On 8 December 1954 the station was damanged by a tornado which ripped off the roof and injured six people. Almost exactly fifty-two years later, another tornado hit London, damaging several properties in the Kensal Rise area on 7 December 2006. |

We have more tornados than the USA, they are small and short lived thankfully. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15088097 No need to be nippy, i'm aware the midwest is quite famous for its tornados. It's the first i've heard of one here, hopefully its a one off like the few you've all posted about here, just a bit odd given the freaky weather we've had recently! happiness and pleasure are two very different beasts of the same pelt |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15088097 AGhhhh you beat me to it, I learnt it from QI. “When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.” Jiddu Krishnamurti. |

I've personally seen two strong enough to damage roofs in my lifetime. I've also seen many very weak ones where cut grass or leaves are in a funnel rotating around and upwards. So weak you can stand in the middle of it. They rarely get reported and even the ones I saw damaging roofs only got mentioned in the local news and nothing national. I've lived by the sea for many years and I've seen one Waterspout as well. That was really cool because you can so clearly see it Be the change you want the World to be. Be |

You guys in England even had some pretty serious size hailstorms recently. Not a peep about those. Right this minute, in the USA, the radar is reporting 5-10 rather large hailstorms (1.25 inch hail) as we speak. Sun isn't even up yet. Not to get off topic. These are related, hail and tornados. that is. Anyone have any large at your locale? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 15071742 Australia 04/26/2012 07:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was in Mersey in 2002, I'm not sure what it was called, but when the tide goes out and you can walk right out over the ocean floor, I was quite far out when I heard what was like a train behind me. I turned around and saw a twister heading right for me. I started running for the shore, and the weirdest thing happened. I put my head down to run and when I looked up, I was on the shore, although it should have taken a hell of a lot longer for em to get there. The twister blew a few roofs off and knocked a few trees down. My family have been going there for a couple of generations to holiday and they say they've never seen anything like it. Twas strange indeed. |

Yes m8, we have had some strange stuff lately, there was a hailstorm which lasted 5 mins and left 3-4 inches on the ground, it looked like we had snow! And another one where the hail was about 3/4 of an inch in size. I am down south, and it is VERY windy right now. GLP alert level 2; "Go get a Hard Hat:. GLP alert level 1; "Put the fucking Hat on:. |
