Can't help with the pill dose , I started taking 2 drops of lugols Iodine about a month ago, 1st week I felt better then I got a flu, which has lasted 3 weeks ( not from the iodine). I think Lugols is 2% Iodine. One thing I did notice was my hair is growing faster since I started it. |

There are a lot of threads here talking about the health benefits of Iodine and how important it is for the body. After reading this one thread below i started to do some reading online and it looks like its not bs at all. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10051301 Thread: IODINE - What they DON'T tell us about this MIRACLE nutrient! UNBELIEVABLE! So i decided to order some Iodoral and im wondering if anyone here takes any Iodine supplements in pills and what dosage. The one i got has 5mg of pure Iodine in one pill, which i think is A LOT. What do you think? Anyone using it? I love Iodoral. I had been painting with Lugols but decided after the Fukushima event to use Iodoral specifically because it contains iodine AND iodide. It would also bring my pituitary gland up to sufficiency in a year without too much of an overload of detoxing. I use Iodoral from iherb.com [link to www.iherb.com] larger size- [link to www.iherb.com] be sure to check out the reviews- [link to www.iherb.com] [link to www.iherb.com] I only take one pill a day as I believe in the slow road to sufficiency. There is debate about it but I am glad I took it slow. It has really helped allow me to get my iodine and not feel bad at the same time. I would imagine the metallic taste is the beginning of some of your detox. Keep up the dosing and you will see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. I am now getting iodoral for my family and recommending it to friends as I feel much much better for having finally achieved sufficiency. I will continue to take one a night probably for the rest of my life. It just seems to help that much. Good luck-- ps. if anyone does want to order from iherb which has an excellent price on Iodoral and also good service and shipping, using the promo code BES696 will get you 5 bucks off your first order. iherb also ships worldwide. be sure to nap a freebie while you are there- [link to www.iherb.com] additional info on Iodoral & Iodine- [link to www.naturalhealingnow.com] [link to www.hacres.com] [link to www.ndaccess.com] [link to spiritnexus.org] |

Thanks for the replys guys, much appreciated! Here is one review i found on Amazon, which i think is very helpful: "This will flush a variety of heavy metals and halogens from the body (and this is a good thing). But the more you have, the lower a dosage you need to begin with. The side effects of the DETOX of a lot of crap this helps get out of you (just google for a ton of information on the biochemistry details) are acne, rashes, lethargy, front-sinus headaches, and a variety of other things. A big increase in sea salt with water intake can help a little bit since some of the compounds being detox'd will bind to those molecules and go with them, but that's only a little thing. The big deal is to drop your dosage to match the detox you can stand at one time. Some of these compounds particularly bromide displace iodine in the thyroid and that's part of the reason for problems. But bromide detox is pretty nasty. Due to the fluoride 'compound' in tap water, bromine having replaced iodine in flours/baked products, and a ton of other common pollutants in the western world, most people have a surprisingly toxic load. Most docs who do iodine-related treatments recommend starting slow, being on the lookout for the detox effects, treating those with as much support for body detox as possible, and graduating the dosage over time, as the body gets cleaner. Alternatively, of course, one can avoid all the detox symptoms by merely keeping it all in-body. This, of course, has other consequences." I think i should wait with the Iodoral and get some Kelp pills for now. Iodoral has combined 12mg and Kelp has only like 200cmg, so i guess I'll just start from the really small dose instead. |

All these claims really make me squirm, although of course you need iodine and who trusts the fda. Since the Gulf disaster I bought the last of sea salt w/iodine I plan to buy. Now it's mined salt fortified with potassium iodide. Also pre-fukushima drops with iodine/iodide from kelp. Pretty but tastes horrid. I'd go 3x a week with the drops maybe 1 drop not exceeding 2 until there is better info that doesn't read like snake oil salesmanship. I mean, who hasn't heard as the above site talks about "detox" that there's actually not good things going on and it's not necessarily purification symptoms. Maybe it's just a sign of going too far with it. Common sense. Unless a person is ill or protecting teh thyroid against radiation..it's not advisable to go more than a week to ten days at higher dose other than to saturate the thyroid, then back off to lower. Maybe crush a tab in mined salt and forget about the whole thing. |

Do the research. Spend the time. You will be glad you did! Most of your questions can be answered at curezone..."the Iodine supplemenation forum" not the support one. The people at the supplementation forum have been supplementing with Iodine/Iodide for about 5 years. They know all the ends and out...the companion supplements...what to expect etc. etc. etc. |

TAKE THEM or TAKE THE LUGOLS and don't worry about one thing. you feel nervous/hyper ? SIMPLY STOP. and reduce the dosage or take every other day--- or take them for 3 days then off them for 4 days etc. |

The one I use is drops and I put two drops per day into my morning coffee. It has changed my life. I'm a 61-year-old technical professional with Ph.D. from a world class university. I.e., I AM NOT A FLAKE. Iodine *is* essential to thryoid health and American are not getting enough. Plus, if you've ever been treated with a fluoride-containing antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin (or anything with the string "flox" in it) or levaquin, you may well be suffering from fluoride toxicity which is real. Again, I am a normal person with a normal life, not a weirdo living in a basement. I am intelligent, well-informed professinoal, wife, and mother. And BELIEVE ME, iodine supplements changed my life! |

Two people I know had Hashimoto's and a sluggish thyroid. First lady told me she lost 65 lbs without dieting using Iodoral. She was also under the care of an excellent alternative health practitioner who also had her on Glandulars and natural cream progesterone. Said she took a total of 77 pills a day for 3 months, cost her $355/mo. But it all helped her enormously. I had another tiny friend who began to get cold sensations in her feet and her 'core' couldn't get warm. Her doc put her on synthroid (or the like pharma) and got breast cancer 2 years later. What I'm trying to say is please find a good practictioner to diagnose and help you. You can really phuck yourself up and tip in the wrong direction, or start showing diabetic symptoms, or throw off other systems. Any hormonal system is complex just try to be sane about it! |
