Solar Panel industry also FUBAR. Force Majeure declared It will take them months if not a year or two to get that refinery up and running. This is whats called a zero point event. There is no way to kick start the production immediately. 2 options, rebuild refinery (months to a year) or source new material (5000 hrs of testing PRIOR to production) which will require a new/modifyed refinery which itself will take months to year(s) to get operational AFTER new material becomes available. Chemical plants need to be built to spec to refine. Highly specialised. As the article states, US has "a couple of weeks" supply. ie. ROOTED! Solar Panel industry also FUBAR. Force Majeure declared There were reports last week of an emergency conference in Detroit to be attended by over 200 suppliers and reps of the auto industry. The emergency dealt with the explosion at a European chemical plant which produced all or most of a chemical critical to the production of cars on a world wide basis. The report intimated that the conference was critical to determine if suppliers could gear up to produce the needed compound or whatever and how long it would take. The clear inference was that unless very quick supplies could be obtained auto factories would perhaps have to begin shutting down. I heard it only once and I believe it was on a Detroit station. I dismissed it until I saw this post. This could be very big. |

An explosion at a manufacturing plant in Germany is expected to cause a plastic resin shortage that could disrupt some U.S. auto production, according to an IHS Automotive report released Tuesday morning. Auto industry leaders hosted a summit Tuesday in Southfield, Mich., to discuss the shortages of a component called CDT, a chemical that is critical to the production of a plastic resin called Nylon 12, which is used to make brake and fuel lines. IHS projected that shortages of the obscure component are "likely to be serious." The March 31 explosion killed two at supplier Evonik Industries. Until recently, when several large solar panel factories shut down, the number of panels being made in Germany was putting an extra strain on Nylon-12 supplies. This will effect the solar panel industry as well.... Blackadder: Baldrick, how did you manage to find a turnip that cost £400 000? Baldrick: Well, I had to haggle. |

Personally I will relish the time off if that happens. Seems pretty ridiculous that an entire industry relies on just a couple of plants for something important. Thinking about the ramifications makes me wonder though....our union has been promoting a "99% spring" and trying to get people to go get trained to protest. This could put thousands of people out of work just in time to hit the streets. Coincidence? |

Maybe yeah, but I would theorise that if this was a planned event as opposed to a mere accident, the target of not just disrupting supply, but reducing supply by half of one component in the manufacturing process of a fundamental necessity of the military machine was a brilliant operation. Force Majeure declared Force Majuere declared "Evonik's force majeure declaration of April 2 refers to reduced deliveries of nylon 12, their intention to restart production as soon as possible, and that it was not possible to evaluate the outcome of the situation at the moment. On April 10, Arkema, who also produces nylon 12, declared force majeure for their European operations since they rely on some purchased CDT. Together Evonik and Arkema account for about half of the world's capacity to make nylon 12. We do not have an indication yet on how drastic the reductions in nylon 12 shipments will be but it is likely to be serious. The tubing converters in North America have begun to issue force majeure declarations of their own this week. It is expected that restarting Evonik's CDT operation is 6 to 8 months away. The ability of Evonik and Arkema to find alternate sources of CDT is very limited and it is doubtful that the CDT shortage can be made up. In the short term auto and truck production will be affected. The force majeure declarations allow OEMs to substitute materials on a fast-track basis in such cases if they are satisfied that the new materials are suitable for use in the application. It appears we will be seeing some of this substitution activity now." With the NWO communist tard green tards trying to tax the air itself, this will do nothing to reduce plastic pollution. C02 content of plastic is minimal. |
