If the CME observed on April 23 arrives it is likely to do so on April 26 and could cause unsettled to minor storm conditions that day and on April 27.


My question is how could it fail to arrive. Run out of energy?

If it fails to arrive we can expect quiet to unsettled conditions on April 27-28.

I have noticed a direct connection between heightened solar activity and my blood pressure. I am a fit early 40s woman with no prior blood pressure issues (except during pregnancies). Last year my blood pressure began to spike and I noticed this would primarily happen on days when CME's were incoming (even small ones would have an effect).

After looking into this phenomenon, research shows that more people have strokes and heart attacks beginning 24 hours prior to and during geomagnetic storms. In fact, It's not the extreme geomagnetic storms themselves that appear to cause the problems, but rather, the micro variations that begin 24 hours before the storm. The before-storm micro variations cause low and extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields, which destabilize the heartbeat, leading to a heart attack or stroke.

Educate yourselves, people...our governments should be warning of these events but they won't for fear of panic. This may not be the CME that knocks out all power but every CME could cause risks to our health, so THANK YOU, OP, for the head's up! Off to take my beta-blocker! :)

The CME that erupted on April 23, 2012 along with the C2.0 solar Flare from plage Region 1461 (N10W19), arrived at approx 1:30 UTC April 26 or 9:30 EST on the 25th, stirring up a NOAA scale G1, geomagnetic storm with solar winds nearing the 800km/s range as read by the SOHO Satellite. ACE readings were somewhat lower hovering around the 700 km/s as it passed. It arrived on the back side of a CHHSS (Coronal Hole High Speed Stream). NOAA predicted the CME to arrive around 14:00 UTC (10:00AM EST)on the 26th, and NASA/ISWA-CCMC predicted the arrival for much later around April 27, at 05:49:22 UTC (1:49 AM EDT, this morning) the 27th. At the time they forcast these storms they did not calculate for the elevated winds that the CHHSS might bring just ahead of the CME so they missed the mark on the timing of this one. NOAA later issued a watch for the storm for all of the 26th.

The CME that erupted on April 23, 2012 along with the C2.0 solar Flare from plage Region 1461 (N10W19),(link to "Earth Directed Full Halo CME" report), has arrived and is stirring up a NOAA scale G1, geomagnetic storm with solar winds near the 700km/s range. In the first image to the left we can see the drop in the electron flux as measured by the GOES satellites upon arrival. I agree with this. My mother lost her husband the end of march due to a heart attack and we were having heavy CME that day as well.

I know of several people friends and family that have had heart attacks in the last year during heavy CME days.
Stents surgeries corrected those and two triple bypass's.

I also can feel the energy when it comes in. Makes your heart fill like it is fluttering and my joints vibrate with intermediate pain that goes away as fast at it hits.. Almost like it is just passing through your body.
