I am a Christian of the Byzantine Catholic Faith. We beleive that Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, by dying on the Cross for us. It is up to us, individually, whether we accept His sacrifice or not. That is what "free will" is about. God wants us to choose Him, but will not force us.

IMO, "Catholic" should not be a seperate choice on this poll. I did not participate in this poll because I could not check both Catholic and Christian. That would be like someone having to check Baptist and Christian.
Just as there are those in many other Christian Churches with varying doctrines and varied beleifs, so to in the Catholic Church.

For those that could not choose between a religion and Jesus. The term Christian has the word Christ in it.
I myself do not like being called a Christian because too many cults use it as an umbrella to hide under though.
My point is that if you are a follower of Christ there should not be a problem saying so. If you are questioning this there may be some soul searching that needs to be done.

Absolutely not. Why categorize a particular church seperately, when the church is in actuality, the original Christian Church. To categorize it seperately, implies that it is not Christian. Some cannot see the forest through the trees.

A church is a building full of idols, maybe some men in dresses, and many empty people.

THE CHURCH is the Body of Christ. Those that follow Jesus and Him alone. Jesus taught how to come to
God the Father and how we are to live for Him.
When people wanted to give credit to the men preaching in the original Christian church those men rebuke that credit and directed all credit and glory to God.
What a sharp contrast to what is considered the church today.

The first "church" were the apostles. The word translated as "church" is one of two words. Either "Synogogua" (can't have people thinking that the Hebrews had ANYTHING to do with Yahushua, afterall) and "Ecclisia" the former being pretty obvious and the latter word meaning "assembly". Hence, ANY group of people gathered in His name.

Not this organization for profit that is the RCC.

There were no popes hanging out in Jerusalem in 30 A.D. There were no men in black suits with funny collars demanding people disobey Yahushua and call them "father".

Sorry to break it to you, but the RCC wasn't founded until LONG after the apostles died.

The first actual Pope in Rome was probably Leo I (440-461 A.D.), although some claim that Gregory I was the first (590-604 A.D.).

EDIT TO ADD: I want to make it abundantly clear that I honestly feel that most Catholics are honorable, noble and wonderful people filled with love.

But the worship of the RCC has to stop. Worshiping an institution is blasphemy.

Agreed 1000%! The Ascended Masters(Jesus, Buddha, Maitreya, Mother Mary, etc.) have a saying they teach. "What one has done, all can do".

We humans have to potential to do anything any of the Ascended Masters did while on earth. Jesus tried to teach this to the people of His time. The apostles and many of Jesus' followers knew this truth. Like it was during Jesus' time, mans ego and lust for structure/control has set up a situation where everybody is in a pissing match about who's holy book or religion has the keys to ultimate truth.

We are all one. We collectively need to find our "I Am Presence" within, to ever have a chance of breaking down the perceived walls of division that keep us from truly loving one another. Namaste!

How come there were no protestant churches until Martin Luther came along? When Martin Luther did his protest, there were 2 branches of the Christian church at that time, the Catholic, and the Orthodox who had split from the Catholic Church about 300 years earlier.

Fear is quite a motivator. My people were slaughtered by the estimated millions over the centuries by the RCC for simply obeying the 4th commandment and observing the Sabbath instead of bowing to their will and worshipping on the Venerable day of the sun, of which there is no scriptural substantiation, by the Church's own admission.

"Protestant" by definition means they protest the RCC. History has shown well what happened to anyone that dared to do that for well over 1000 years.

Your post seems to assume that no Hebrews ever accepted HaMoshiach. What an arrogant claim.

I had hoped that my making it clear that I have little issue with followers of the RCC would have prevented backlash. However, institution worship also is quite a powerful motivator.

Former Catholic. While i initially rejected practically every aspect of the RCC after salvation, I now believe many, many Catholics are redeemed. I still think error permeates the RCC, but possibly no more or less than practically every Protestant church I have attended. To me, it comes down to this crucial question: What does it mean to turn to Christ? It is not, I am convinced, regurgitating a prayer of salvation, nor is it, IMO, clinging to sacraments or receiving communion. However, all of those actions MIGHT be outward manifestations of the heart turning to Christ. This conclusion is profound to me. Although I am no Catholic, I desire with all my heart to spend etetnity in Heaven with every single Catholic. I have nothing but love for Catholics. My late mother was a devout Catholic who demonstrated fruit of the Holy Spirit more than many so-called born-again believers (no offense intended; in fact, I am a born-again believer). The more i get to know the Lord Jesus, the more confident i become in His grace and mercy. Here's to seeing billions more than we expected in Heaven!

Beloved Peter, the first Pope, Christ's Vicar on earth and His successors to follow in an unbroken line is Christian history from the beginning. The "papacy murdered anyone that wasn't Catholic", where is that in history? How about Cromwell, who murdered millions of Irish Catholics by starvation in the Protestant persecution, even thousands of his own English Catholics?
