Gluten Intolerance - Triggers and Causes - Zinc Deficiency, Pyroluria Link
I believe the cause or "trigger" is linked to heavy metal toxicity in the gut and body. Heavy metals interfere with the enzymes that digest gluten and dairy. Lack of zinc causes copper toxicity and bio-unavailability. I have a condition called Pyroluria (which is how I uncovered this) which makes the body deficient in zinc and B6 ... however you don't need this condition to become zinc deficient.

Since zinc is linked to tissue regeneration I would assume that the gut is being healed faster if taking the supplement and helps to restore the copper/zinc balance in the body to reduce heavy metal buildup. Im interested in what other people may think of this. I researched possible links between Gluten and Copper Toxicity and wondering if other people have a deficiency or possibly have Pyroluria and are also gluten sensitive (Pyroluria also link to Lyme disease-gov coverup). My glutening doesn't seem to last as long and symptoms are not as intense after taking zinc supplements and detoxing of heavy metals. Im in the early stages of detox. Im not expecting a cure ... however really curious if others have similar experiences.

Thanks for your post. I'm new to supplementing with zinc - using it to help with geographic tongue, exacerbated by gluten, dairy, tomato etc. Geographic tongue arrived after 2 yrs of lyme healing, candida rehad and cleansing. Now Zinc seems to be my next step in gut healing with probitotics. I definitely notice less symptons when taking the zinc.

Re: Gluten Intolerance - Triggers and Causes - Zinc Deficiency, Pyroluria Link
i whole heartedly agree with the last poster. both my son and i are gluten sensitive, and after 3 docs, found the right ones (mensah medical in warrenville, il, studied at pfeifer) who got us on the right track, after the right tests. high copper, low zinc, low B6. not pyroluric, but similar vitamin regimen to fix.

my son almost got kicked out of pre-k for behavioral issues. we tried various kinds of behavioral therapies, and nothing worked. well, going GF gave us a reprieve for a few weeks, so i got to see that he could be a normal kid. it was wonderful. then things went bad again. fast forward to where we are now. starter dosese of specific set of vitamins. my son is doing great in kindergarten, has friends, hasn't had a meltdown / tantrum in weeks (and we are only on week 7 of starting the vitamins) and life is great. we are only at half the starter dose, working our way up slowly, so things will only get better.
