I retract my previous query. While they could be used as a prison transport, it seems this design feature was added to replaced the old canopy and rail design.

It seems logical from an engineering standpoint.

Anyway for the people reading U.S. army TACOM did order 194 for themselves for testing and took delivery in December 2011.

Price per unit at about $150,000 each and they have budgeted enough to buy about 600 additional units if the initial field tests go well.

I know if my neighbor was building a trap that would catch me in it, and i knew it..I would plan my escape from it and make sure to dig a tunnel to it, i would pack up all the necessary tools for securing my escape and stick them within arms reach, so when the day came that i got caught in his trap, i wouldn't have to think of how to dig out or escape while i had no resources to make it happen within the camp.
but if i had already set things up ahead of time , weather i could use the escape or not i could always hand escape to someone else..
