I'm in Middlesex County, I hear a hum at night, but I live in a densely populated area and discount it to something explainable...

Re: The HUM in central NJ
Yup.. for the last month now, easy.

A low hum, kind of like a truck in the distance. Its louder at night. I think my dog hears it too. When its real loud he reacts almost like he does during a thunderstorm.

The wife says she can hear it but I dont really think she can. My Mom hears it sometimes. She lives 20 miles away.

Its REAL disturbing!

Are you close to the TPKE/PKWY/195/295/etc...? It's probably traffic noise. Based on the times posted it sounds like rush hour...

In Fairlawn along Route 208 in parents home, heard same hum for 2 years as we have in CT. We have identified the problem in CT as the opertions of the high pressure natural gas lines. In Jersey you have the similar lines and Spectra is getting ready to put one huge one through Jersey City and Tenesse through Sussex and Passaic Counties. The hum and vibrations inside many peoples homes is going to get much worse.

I have been hearing this hum for several years now. its getting louder, my belief is that it is electromagnetic waves from all the wireless devices, I hear it louder at night, the sound resonated into all of the wiring in your home, thats why it cant be pin pointed, its everywhere,i even can hear it outside my home,Sleepless in Warren County,NJ

I hear a high pitched noise sometimes all day, then some days not at all. I am near the military base. I hear artillery practice on the base too that shakes the ground.

LOL.............I am listening to 'it' right now. I hear it daily and for the past two months it seems 'louder' than in the past and with some variance in tone. I hear it day or night, inside or out but never elsewhere than where I live.
I am in the foothills above Sacramento. In March it will be two years since I first noted it. It took me weeks to quit racing outside to see if a diesel truck were idling in my driveway.
