WAIT THERE IS HOPE..
Inventor Paul M. Brown invented a Process to Remediate Nuclear Waste.
Around 1991 he formed a company, Nuclear Solutions (NSOL), which utilizes a process he created, called photoremediation, to deactivate radioactive waste. The process uses low-level x-rays to convert nuclear waste products into inert substances within days, instead of thousands of years, and generates electricity in the process.
Unfortunately he died mysteriously in a car accident in 2002.
