Is the reality of huge costs not looked at in a regulatory solution kind of way because of lobbyists and not the interests of the population? You have next to zero Public Health, even though you are the only late modern 1st World nation in the world without it. Public health is probably the best place to spend tax money, because you keep your workforce healthy, and your new generations healthy, without making the families serfs in the process, with may or may not impoverish multiple generations. Yet there is this huge bitch fest about it....it is silly. plenty of super powers have very robust, and fair public health services, while keeping a second tier of pay services usually kept by big insurance. Obamacare is not even close to the kind of Public Health plans some countries like Canada and the U.K and France have.....it is just a very clever way to prop up the Medical Insurance industries, which are huge, and keep some pay-check-to-paycheck folks happy. |

I work for a company in the medical sector delivering cancer treatment facilities. When we do business in other countries, we discuss with the government where the treatment facility would be the most efficient and provide the best citizen coverage. When we do business in the US, we discuss with private companies and banks where the treatment facility would generate the best RoI and provide the best customer coverage I'm not kidding. We mainly sell high tech treatment centres to Florida, where it's a fucking pot of gold with all the rich old people. According to our US customers, other states are not really a priority so far and probably not financially attractive. On the other hand, the government in Pakistan purchased a center where the personal treatment fee would be equivalent to the salary of the person, so all can access it even if they are too poor. Different countries, different cultures. |
