I work in construction and honestly I'd rather work with Mexicans than Americans anyday, Cuz they work harder and bitch way less. They're also way more patient and nicer to work with than whites. Whites will just stand around and talk about how skilled and underpaid they are while the Mexicans take care of the real work. I'm white BTW.. blacks on the other hand.. they're lazier than whites x 10.

First abolish the FOLLY of minimum wage.

Then abolish unemployment dole

Then abolish property tax: so individuals can actually own property again

I agree, minimum wage is a farce - let the pressures of the market dictate what people should make. If you as a business owner are cheap, well, than no one will work for you.

What is the deal with this only a Mexican will do manual labor (horseshit). You may not be old enough to remember but as recent as the 1970s their was a thriving community of people (American Citzens) who worked those jobs.

Those jobs were a very important part of our economy. The jobs paid excellent wages , and were respected trades. People bought houses raised their children , purchased new cars and trucks and paid for college educations for their kids from the wages earned from these jobs.

Did you know that in the 1970s you could earn .25 cents per foot to trim a trac home? It only took a day to complete an average home of say 1200 sq. ft. for a paycheck of $300.00 ?
Gas was hovering between .50 and .60 cents a gallon back then. How would you like to make $300 a day and only pay .60 cents for gas.

It was the massive influx of (cheap) illegal labor that destroyed the wages and forced hardworking Americans to look elsewhere for jobs that would provide for their families. I still do construction work, and here it is 4-30-2012 42 years later and what do you get to trim a trac home now ? Answer: Usually around .35 cents a foot if your lucky and gas is $3.69 a gallon.

It is impossible for Americans to compete with someone who doesnt pay taxes or insurance and can recieve goverment benefits that the American citzen cant even qualify for. Ive had enough with this they are the only ones that will do that kinda work. They do not work harder , than Whites or Blacks or Mexican Americans or any other American.

They only work cheaper and thats the only reason they are here. Let them start demanding a living wage and take away all the freebies , force them to register their cars and pay their taxes and provide a real insurance card when they are stopped by the cops and then I can compete .

What about back in the old days where farmers would butcher their own food? Raise their own crops? Raise their own chickens, etc.
I live in a state where near every where you go there's a dairy farm, chicken farm, sheep farm, horses, corn, soybeans, lettice, etc being grown.
My dad even to this day still speaks of his time of growing up on a dairy farm. His mom butchering their own food for supper, even having to gather their own eggs, milk their cows, even a few times have been told about when they made blood pudding.

Yes it's not exactly the nicest job... but our families and the families before them have done it.
We've been spoiled rotten to to point of thinking butchering, picking crops, and basically doing things not by processing but by hand is disgusting work.

Im certain they would. Many are desperate for work right now. In my area of upstate NY there would be loads of people who would jump for that work. The work today get paid today that only pays minimum wage is lined up with folks everyday and many get turned away. I use to work a job picking strawberries and absolutely had no problems doing it.

I think the main problem is not with mexicans taking jobs that Americans are unwilling to do, but with mexicans taking all the jobs that americans ARE VERY WILLING TO DO such as manufacturing, rank and file office administration jobs, grocery stores, fast food/restaurant, service, truck driving, etc, etc.

Mexicans have just as much as an 'entitlement' mentality as whites and other ethnic groups do, at least in california.

I have seen wetbacks turn down day labor jobs because they were demanding $10-$15 an hour for drywall, painting, and other typical contractor work.

I had a friend who recently remodeled part of his house and the workmanship was terrible. And yes it was done by all mexicans, not even day laborers either but part of a legit crew from a big contracting company. He also told me that he caught them sitting around doing nothing several times when they were supposed to be working and they left a mess all over his house.

Bottom line is I get tired of hearing how hard working mexicans are.

to be honest, the reality is and has been that 10 years ago my son had a good job way over min. wage, till he was ordered to train a few illegal mexicans. in six months he was out of his job, soon as he got enough of them trained. so don't talk out of your ass, you dont seem to know much.

Yes, I've been doing hard landscaping work for 2 years now. I often have days where all I do is hard-rake for 7 hours. I do it for 10/hr.

The thing is, Americans wont do those jobs for the rates that Mexicans will. Thank god I live in a part of the country that hasn't been flooded with illegals.

I've been doing landscape work in North Pittsburgh for 14 years now. I'm a grass cutting foreman and make $18/hr with health insurance. It's hard work but I think Mexicans are overrated for the most part. The Americans my company has are just as good as the Mexicans. I have 2 Mexicans on my crew and they each make $10/hr. Each year, they keep demanding more money and some are even electing to stay home. I have trained several American workers to be just as productive as the Mexican workers. The only difference I have noticed, is that the Americans don't want to start out at the bottom and grind their way up. Whereas the Mexicans accept their role and do as instructed.

picking produce and peaches and strawberries etc. was done by school kids and college kids not too long ago, i used to do all that and then some. it is seasonal work. now, in the next little town and around here the only low income place for rent is for seasonal workers only, except none of them actually do the farm work or any work, they live there year round on foodstamps and pay 23.00 dollars a month for rent. the farmers are having to import them from mexico for the season any more. and house them because the state is blind and deaf to the fact that the 'seasonal workers' occupying the lowrent apts are not working.

Americans have always picked lettuce, tomatoes, ect. Farms will pay more once the immigrants are removed. And this is good for all.

But mexicans are not just picking lettuce. Like the cuban senator Rubio they are anchor babies who go to college here to completely take over and ethnic cleanse the American citizenry.

Sure there are lots of people around here who would do those jobs. LOTS.

Problem is the PAY. Businesses can get away with paying illegals MUCH less than they can Americans... so they do.

The best solution to the problem I have heard so far is to make everyone serve a 4 year term in the military. Americans and illegals alike.

That way everyone earns their citizenship -- much like what they do in other countries such as Taiwan.

The military was a good thing for me. I suspect that many of our spoiled brat future generation could do with a little 'structure' in their youg adult years.

Robert Heinlein was a weird old dude, but he had a few really good ideas. And one of them as *earned* citizenship. Those who became 'citizens' had earned the right to VOTE. Those who didn't become 'citizens' didn't get to vote -- though they could lead fairly normal lives otherwise. In that case (Starship Troopers the BOOK not the movie) the military took every one -- there was a job in the military for you if you wanted it. If you wanted to exercise your right to citizenship -- it was made available to you.

Just to be clear here -- I am not defending illegal immigration because I truly think that it is a big problem and 'amnesty' most likely the only thing that can be done now. Unfortunately just giving amnesty carte blanche will only make the problem WORSE as a flood of illegals come across trying to get into the USA before the expiration date. Enlisting them in the military in exchange for their citizenship (as many other foreign nationals already do now) is the best way I can think of to make the amnesty 'work'.

Lets hope we don't employ this method just to justify another war though. Because that is sick in the most depraved way.

I live on my own, pay 500 in rent (includes utilities, in a studio style apartment). I don't take any kind of government assistance, as I don't want to become dependant on the government, although I do accept help from friends and family on occasion.

I often can't afford to keep car insurance current, and I have to purchase cheap healthy foods and prepare them myself.

Americans will do all of the jobs that Mexicans will, but only if they make enough money to live a life that is at least marginally the "norm". I won't pick tomatoes for 3/hr, but I would for 10/hr. In some areas of the country it might take even more money to entice Americans to do the work, depending on cost of living.

I also previously spent 7 years doing technical support in a call center. Eventually I wouldn't put up with the declining wages, as that job is frustrating beyond belief. The wages kept declining as you are competing with people living in mud huts in Bangalore. While we can't stop telecommunications technology, we can stop excessive and illegal immigration to protect wages in the dirty jobs. If we want the lower class segment of American society to live like Mexican migrant workers, or welfare junkies, then sure keep letting the Mexicans move in. You can have cheap(er) tomatoes, or a healthy working class, not both.

Yes pay is a problem. A amerian cannot survive on nothing where as a illegal who is getting foodstamps and medical card and welfare and not paying taxes or whatever can afford to live on less. But even at that I have worked really jobs.. My husband has worked even more crappy jobs for low pay.

Here is how it works out.. Kick out the illegals then americans wont have to pay so much darn taxes to feed shelter and treat them.. Then they can afford to work them jobs agian!
