The original word for "paper" was Paparus which is an Egyptian 9Shemitic) cognate. The English word "paper" is derived from it as is the French and German word "papier" and the Spanish word "papel" which seems to be precisely the same word as is used by the Shemitic speaking Maya. That's why the scholar Ximenez saw the connection. In Hebrew this papyr-rus (papel-rus) was paper or reed and "bow-vow" is befell, fallen so the phonetic popal voe in Hebrew would mean "paper (record) of that which befell (an historical account).
