not necessarily. black bloc does some pretty stupid shit. and occupy (especially occupy oakland) is especially stupid.

throwin' that out there cause i live in oakland, and am thoroughly embarrassed by local occupy, as is the community. they've lost most if not all of their support because of the stupid crap they do.

The black block assholes have been at bay area protests for some
time. I had to leave an anti Iraq war protest because of them back
in 2002. Basically its a bunch of punks who like fighting with cops,
they don't give a shit about any cause.

It may be time for occupy to give the black block a healthy dose
of pepper spray whenever they cause trouble.

i was at that protest with my kid. we got caught up in the whole black bloc action, thanks to my quick thinking we didn't get busted with the 500 arrested. that was an amazing day though, 20,000 strong, we got out of the BB situation and kept on going all day.

the only person who really has a plan, integrity and intelligence, that i can tell from my many years of bay area activism, is starhawk.

these activist groups tear each other apart from the inside cause of their egos.

i sat and watched the live stream of last month's occupy bullshit and the 'occupy media' didn't say word one about purpose, it was all me me me, i am here doing this, check me out, become a fan, send me money. it was at that point, i just folded on occupy totally. fuck them.

Looks like the .gov wants to badly get the martial law ball rolling before the election.
Also U of Cal President issued a statewide message to all campuses yesterday warning all students and faculty to "avoid all protests". It was like they know something is going to go down.

anyone with half a brain doesn't associate themselves with any kind of 'group,' IMHO. it's a good way to get yourself targeted, for one, for another, groups run by lowest common denominator, ever been stuck in traffic? the whole group cannot progress any faster than the butthead holding traffic up in the first place.

i've seen it over and over, it turns into backbiting and arguing over petty shit and one or two people's ego, and progress is at a standstill in no time flat.

In honor of May Day, many Occupy-inspired protesters are taking to the streets.

Early on Tuesday, a strike by Golden Gate workers at the ferry station in Larkspur halted service until the early afternoon. Ferry workers have been negotiating a new contract with the bridge district for a year, with little success.

In Oakland, starting about 8:30 a.m., a roving band of about 200 protesters, many dressed in black, marched downtown, banging on windows, heading toward the Bank of America and Wells Fargo -- establishments many of the 99 percent feel take advantage of regular people.
