Anonymous Coward User ID: 14488282 United States 05/01/2012 06:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My son says he is singing about himself. I thought he was singing to his child. But he uses the F word, he can't be talking about his child? My two children love this band. The lead singer, Marcus just got married to an actress, I forget her name, she played one of the younger sisters in Pride and Prejudice. I cannot stand the -F- word song. It's defended by saying, in England and Europe, the -F- word is a slang word, means nothing. No way, it is vulgar, it's awful! Marcus Mumford's parents are Protestant preachers. This is where he gets his spiritual lyrics, less that song, in their music. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 14962676 United States 05/01/2012 06:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seriously, what is the point of their music? What are they singing about? I've even asked their "fans" and no one can seem to give me an answer... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12276109 I get the feeling some people just like their "sound" and hop on the bandwagon. Take this song... can you make anything of it?? "Lion Man" is a song about the young, self righteous academic activist liberal types that just scurry from one cause to another protesting this and that and the false bravery they show attacking "safe" political targets within the securing of their little activist mobs. How they blame everyone else, even the societal failures they see all around them are of their own making. Mumford and Sons are mocking them and their fake courage. |

But he uses the F word, he can't be talking about his child? I thought it was a father who was happy to use profanities when talking TO his child (not about). I thought he was telling his son something like 'I left your mother and put your heart on the line". Sure I am wrong after listeneing again. |

If I want to make her laugh, I sing that to her. Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid, it is true that most stupid people are conservative. Weep little lion man You're not as brave as you were at the start Rate yourself and [rake] yourself Take all the courage you have left Wasted on fixing all the problems That you made in your own head" Guess you just gotta live to learn. |

They don't make good understandable songs now like they used to, do they? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1130234 No I get your point, but I really want to know what great "meaning" there is in mumford and sons songs which their fans allude to but never explain. I'm not judging the quality of a song just by how "understandable" it is, but I do want to know why Mumford and sons is so special as opposed to just being a trendy hipster favorite (Which I think it is) |

They might act like they write songs with some kind of meaning or purpose... but it's all for the dollar bills. Peak Oil, Peak Civilization, Peak EVERYTHING People who don't believe in peak oil fall into 3 categories: Uninformed. In denial. Too stupid to understand it. Which one are you? |

"Little Lion" most likely means that he acted as men as expected to act (like lions) instead of acting as he felt compelled - being compassionate, caring, empathic - usually these feelings are reserved for the fairer sex. He is addressing the stereotypes that are inflicted on men which ultimately ruins plenty of relationships with women who are far more in touch with their emotions and expect men to be as well.
