How can adults believe in God and Demons, yet know that Santa Claus is myth?

One theory from my mandatory Christian Studies class. Some peope have to have some higher power working behind the scenes, because the thought of nothing after physical death isn't something they can deal with & it's so terrifying to some, they'd lose their minds to know everything stops there.

Just like ol' Satan. The thought that "they" are to blame for the things they've done is too much to bear, so they must have someone to blame it on. (heheh, that sounds like my ex actually).

I can't remember which psych guy held those views, but it was one of the earlier ones in history.

The reason is that Santa Claus becomes obvious at some point when it is admitted by parents or others that the parents are santa claus, ditto the easter bunny and others.

God is real but not understood as to what it is. There is no thinking on this one. People are still generally stupid on this planet.

Santa Claus is not one person, but numerous.

The real "Santas" are arctic shamans (medicine men) who gathered fly agaric mushrooms up by being pulled on a sled by reindeer, and were stuffed in a sack.

The mushrooms would be hung on pine trees to dry in the sun and delivered to the villages for the community to consume during the winter solstice.

When I was a kid, I pulled on santan's fake ( I mean santa's) beard, and I knew he was a fat white guy who had nice silvery white hair and smiling blue eyes that were fading from age. He sat in a chair at the mall and pretended to like strangers' kids so he could get paid (my mother's friend took me with her kids to see ole santa when I was a kid, and my mother was PISSED--our household did not do Christmas--and still don't).

Demons, on the other hand, are some of the strongest bastards on earth, and are just highly and perpetually pissed. I know; I've seen them, and they don't wear fake beards OR get a paycheck. They do, however, pretend to be other dead people though, but they still don't get a dime for their acting skills!
