My daughter is fully vaccinated. She is 8 years old and reads on an 8th grade level. She walked at 9 months, was speaking in full sentences before she was 1, reading by 3, and probably has a better vocabulary than some of you. She's also a math whiz.

In addition, she will never catch these terrible diseases. Win, win.

If you choose not to vaccinate your child, and then 30yrs down the road there's a small pox outbreak, couldn't they go get a vaccine then?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9277476

30 years down the road they'd be adults and could make their own decisions. I never got my children vaccinated and they're healthy. My daughter refuses to get her seven year old vaccinated, she's healthy as well. Just like what another poster said, she's healthier than her schoolmates and has 100% attendance.

Why does this stance seem UK centric

My sister (who is 14 months younger than me) was born with severe autism. My mom always suspected the vaccines from what she's read. When my younges sister (12 years younger than me) was born, she recieved NO vaccinations and still has had none. That has posed lots of problems regarding schooling, but the good news is...she's as healthy as an ox. Hasn't been sick in her life. Seriously.
 Quoting: -GooGooFlexy-

If your sister was BORN with autism why would your mom even think vaccines had something to do with her autism? I'm not trying to be a jerk and I do believe that these shots cause autism etc, but how can you equate them to a child BORN with the condition?

Look at the court cases for proof. Pharmaceutical companies pay out billions in vaccine caused autism cases. Last i checked there were 10,000 more cases pending in the US with 8000 cases paid. And that was two years ago.

What more proof do idiot parents need?? These cases prove and the vaccine companies admit fault for autism in a court of law. Do you refuse to believe it just because the TV doesn't tell you?

Vaccines do cause autism. It is a known legal fact. Break through the wall of your brainwashing. See the light. Open your mind. For children's sake just consider that it may be true because it is. These companies have every intent of harming your baby. It is not difficult to accept if you are a discerning parent.

Besides all that...vaccines do not work anyway.

Not every child reacts the same to vaccinations. Sounds like you got lucky. My cousin's 9 month old has had her routine vaccinations. When I saw her at 1 month she seemed perfectly fine and seemed to respond well to my voice. I saw her recently and something is off. She doesn't respond to voices and can only focus on jewelry or other shiny objects. I guess only time will tell.

I'm glad your daughter is healthy but I've seen too many children lately who change after doing the recommended schedule.

Btw...in regards to the chicken pox vaccination. Most people don't realize that you have to get a booster for it later on in life. So if you get it while you are young you need it again when you are in your 50's. But a lot of people will forget to do this. At that age if you contract chicken pox it will not be chicken pox. It will be shingles, which is much, much worse. Just something to think about.

I have read studies that say autism is caused by a lack of human contact in early life, genetics, and even the mother taking psychiatric drugs during pregnancy. They have no idea what really causes it, so why would I put my child at unnecessary risk?

[link to medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com]

Please note, under prevention it says:

"Until the cause of autism is discovered, prevention is not possible."

It also says nothing about vaccines, but a whole lot about prenatal development. I choose to reserve judgement until all facts are known.

Edit to AC above: Yes, she was using full sentences by 1. "I want some milk", or "Please read this book", or "I'm hungry!" all count as full sentences. I did not say COMPLEX sentences. :)

Re: Monkeys Get Autism-like Reactions to MMR & Other Vaccines In University of Pittsburgh Vaccine Study
Had my last two small mercury amalgam tooth fillings taken out yesterday and replaced with composites. More and more dentists have woken up to the fact it has no place in the human body.

Interesting that as my dentist was preparing to do his work, he remarked "You know, the ONLY place [by law] I can put mercury is in your mouth! I can't dump it, I can't flush it down a drain or anything." I replied the same was true of the mercury twist-style energy-saving light bulbs, that one cannot 'dump' those in the conventional way- you practically have to have a HazMat team remove it!

And this substance has been placed in people's mouths for decades...

There was a woman with Morgellon's who went to an altie doctor who told her to get the mercury amalgam filling taken out and replaced with benign composite material, as the amalgam was leaching and broken. She did- and her Mogellon's cleared up

Did you anti-vaxxers ever stop to think for an instant how easy it would be to kill mass numbers of people if TPTB can convince parents that vaccines are bad? I have not seen a single shred of any evidence that convinces me vaccines cause autism. Period. Show me even ONE study that isn't performed by someone with something to gain, that definitively links autism with any cause. There is none. I did, however, get to see this first hand:

OK, lets turn that around. Take Andrew Wakefield, the doc that started the whole autism / MMR. The industry journal he was slated in The Lancet is basically paid for by big pharma, the Journo who wrote the piece has a sibling on the board of GSK, so no conflict of interest there then (sarcasm). The CDC has said on its own website that only 2% of the adult population is vaccinated. They are actually trying to push adult vaccinations but it fails everytime and they can mostly get health care workers to comply. NEWSFLASH the "herd" is mostly unvaccinated and the kids are the ones all shot up with toxins. Have you even looked at the ingrediets of these shots? If it is hazmat, and you can't drink it DON'T INJECT IT IN YOUR BODY... simple as that.

Ever heard of the "green the vaccine" movement? Big Pharma never looks into doing that....

Ever heard of the amish not having autism? Big Pharma is not looking into that. That would be a good place to start. The rest of us would like to know these answers.....

"Dr. Mayer Eisenstein, told us he is not aware of any cases of autism in never-vaccinated children; the national rate is 1 in 175, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "We have a fairly large practice," Eisenstein told us. "We have about 30,000 or 35,000 children that we've taken care of over the years, and I don't think we have a single case of autism in children delivered by us who never received vaccines. "We do have enough of a sample," Eisenstein said."

I'm from Pittsburgh, didn't get my son vaccinated (other then the vit k) and he is so advanced, started walking at 7 months, he is a year old now and when I say "one" he puts out his index finger and laughs, we are working on two fingers now. My girlfriends other son will be six soon, and he has been diagnosed with adhd, and depression, ironically after he recieved his 3 year shot he had autistic like symptoms. Not my child, didn't know her when she had him and made ignorant parental choices, the proof is in MY son, who didn't get mercury infested autism shots.

Re: Monkeys Get Autism-like Reactions to MMR & Other Vaccines In University of Pittsburgh Vaccine Study
If both parents are over 40, the chances of a child being born genetically prone to Autism increases.

The pharmaceutical industry claims that it no longer uses Thiomersal/Thimerosal Mercury in vaccines as a preservative so they can administer the same vaccine from a large bottle. But it is probably still used. They claim that the Mercury is safe as it is a different form than liquid Mercury and probably in low enough concentrations as to not poison someone.

But studies never took into account the fact that doctors don't shake the bottle and Thiomersal sinks to the bottom of the bottle. And no Mercury in any form and any dose is safe for human beings if by its very nature it is a neuro-toxin.

Probably any excess metal, from aluminum, from tin, from Mercury preservative is bad for children who can't eliminate excess metal the way the rest of us genetically stronger ones can eliminate it.

Farmers can't use human waste because there is too much metal in it. It kills the crops.

The excess metal poisons the Autistic child at some point and burns out the liquid filament of cells. Perhaps this cell juice allows people to interact and look at other people directly in the eyes. Excessive shyness may be a very low level functioning Autism.

Does treatment such as seaweed lower levels of metal in the body thus helping Autistic patients to function better? Nobody knows yet.

Are Autism cases increasing? The correct identification of patients and diagnosis is increasing and the cases are increasing.

All in all, it is still important to have children vaccinated as to not see a resurgence of terrible life threatening diseases.

There are probably government people in the world that would murder or character assassinate very influential people if they were to crusade against vaccination.

Now that is one very plausible conspiracy for you.

Believe what you want. No skin off my nose. I feel sorry for all the kids who have parents that believe such things are not possible. If you have faith in your children, and love them, they are capable of wonderful things. Promise.

Believe what you will, do what you will. I am not here to judge anyone, just trying to inject some common sense into the debate. I forgot I was dealing with "true believers". Sorry, won't be making the same mistake again.
