Sonny

Not "Do as I say" More like Do as I learned.

What is your "real" objection to what he has to say? Not really "say", but really what he is trying to teach you? What do you really object to about that? Is there anything "specific" that you disagree with?

It isnīt all that hard to spout platitudes--I wonder if he is just "making a living".

Dunno, he seems like a control freak to me, and egotistical to boot. Wouldnīt want to be his Mrs.

"Dunno, he seems like a control freak to me, and egotistical to boot. Wouldn´t want to be his Mrs."

I cannot imagine where you get that impression.

His teachings are all about love and giving.

Re: Dr. Wayne Dyer
In my opinion, he seems like a FAKE and a PHONY. I know he talks about love and other good things, but to my perception there is a disconnect between what he is saying and what he is emanating. As I said, to me he appears to be a control freak and egotistical. That is my perception. I spent thirty years deeply involved in a meditation group where a lot of the people manifested a disconnect between what they were saying (mouthing platitudes) and how they were living (judgmental, rigid, hypocritical).

Itīs just my opinion, not trying to change anyone elseīs take on it. Itīs just that I have seen many occasions where people talked a good line but fell short in the delivery department.

He is part of the new movement of love and forgiveness, as in, love our way or we forgive you until you do.

He is very close though, very vedic and eastern in his philosophy, therein showing how he lacks individuality and the resurrection, IMO.

I forgive him until he does get it though.

AC10

The purpose of meditation is to take an inward look at yourself, not at others. 30 years? WoW! What were you able to determine and correct?

"I know he talks about love and other good things, but to my perception there is a disconnect between what he is saying and what he is emanating."

Huh???

In my view, he is emanating love, peace, inner harmony and tranquillity. Am I missing something???

After so many years involved itīs hard to say what changes were a result of the meditation practice and what changes were the result of "learning from my mistakes" and/or simple process of maturation. I conclusively determined several things:

you get what you give in life

I, no one else, am responsible for my own feelings and all the circumstances of my life

itīs next to impossible to change anyoneīs fundamental nature

true soul growth usually comes at the end of a karmic whipwhip

the brilliant light of the soul can be hiding in all sorts of goofy personalities

judge not lest you be judged

kindness matters

we are all doing the best we can, given what we have to work with

love is the most important thing in life

itīs a long road home, try to get comfortable with the trip

Congrats!

You seem like an "old soul" whom I may have met before in a previous incarnation.

I esp like this result of your meditations

"the brilliant light of the soul can be hiding in all sorts of goofy personalities"

and

"I and no one else, am responsible for my own feelings and all the circumstances of my life"

Donīt understand the part about ex husband.

May you grow in peace.

Re: Dr. Wayne Dyer
I havenīt read his books, but I have watched him on PBS.

I have to admit he is a great speaker, but IMO, his advice to people is for them to not have a backbone by turning the other cheek and to disarm unfriendly people by trying to make them like you. Bad advice, as you are only creating an illusion for yourself that can be destructive.

Clearing up mis-understandings is one thing, but letīs face it, some people just donīt like others for whatever reason (jealousy, racism, religion, etc) and it doesnīt matter what you do, sooner or later theyīll crap all over you again.

The good ones get treated like door mats and it is their energy that the nasties want, whether you use it to make them like you or you take the bait the other way and argue with them. Itīs all the same to them, it is about energy.

I would use discernment and detach as best you can from bad relationships and situations.

Who is a relative of yours? The Dr. or her ex hubby?

I truly understand what you are expressing but think that you really have to study further to come to understanding or the reality.

Re: Dr. Wayne Dyer
I have all his audio programs, and find his talks are marvelously entertaining and inspiring. Over the past 20-25 years he has gone from psychology to spirituality to something just emerging as religious faith. His speaking voice has also improved over the years.

He is frequently self-deprecating in his talks to audiences, telling funny stories about the difference between his advice in books and his real-life experiences with his family. In one tale, he tells of his grade-school daughter coming to him in disbelief after schoolmates informed her of his latest book of parenting advice. Apparently she couldnīt believe he had the nerve to advise others. He also tells of his home-repair incompetence, saying that his "Indian Name" is He-Writes-The-Checks.

I suggest checking out some of his tapes from your local library -- much easier and more entertaining to listen than to read the books.
