At the EQUATOR, that's where the 1000 mph speed is. 24k circumference turning once per day (e.g. 24 hours).

I've always wondered if I jump, shouldn't the earth move beneath me and I land on a different spot? If the earth is really revolving that is.

The Scriptures seem to say that the Sun and the Moon rotate around the earth.

Without getting into the physics of all of this, if you toss up a ball while riding in a car, the ball will travel with you, not fly back behind you at 60 miles an hour... same theory here... Yes, it spins at 1037 mph at the equator (24901 miles / 24 hours).

What we further know is that for many hundreds of years the church all claimed based on the Bible the earth was stationary. Then came along the battle between Galileo and the inquisition. Galileo we are told was to bring us this new belief based on observed science, that in fact the earth rotates and moves around the sun. This was all staged by the Roman Church to attack the Bible and shift thinking away from the Bible towards the old Babylonian astronomy.

What difference does it matter? Well, it for one throws the entire 'big bang' out the window (another Jesuit fabrication, btw).

No, because you are traveling at the same speed as the Earth. It's the same as if you are inside of a car, and you have something in your hand and you toss it straight up into the air, it will fall right back down into your hand, not hit you in the face. Or, if you are standing on a train or bus and jump while it is moving, you will land in the same place because you are moving with the vehicle. The first experiments with this sort of thing were done by dropping weights from the tops of masts on sailing ships. The ship is moving forward, sometimes very quickly, yet the weight always falls at the base of the mast when dropped.

Now, if you were able jump high enough into the air, you would start to noticeably lose some speed by the time you got back down to Earth so you wouldn't land in the same spot. But at the heights we are capable of jumping, there's no noticeable difference. You'd really need to go quite high before this could be noticed. Even dropping objects off of a tall building doesn't cause a noticeable effect and you're much more likely to have alterations in path of the falling object due to wind than the movement of the Earth.

Ah, i hear you talking. Now do this: you are driving along at 70 mph in the fancy sports car. Catch a fly from inside the car and throw it out of the window. See if the fly can keep up? The auto environment is artificial. The earth is stationary. The train plane & auto would travel faster east than west, if the earth were in fact rotating. Gas economy would be different. Just a few obvious problems.

The fly can't handle the wind resistance of traveling 70mph. For a fraction of a second it will still be going as fast, but as light and small as it is it can't overcome the resistance.

Relative to the traveling car or train the Earth is stationary. A car at rest on the Equator would appear to be traveling East at about 1000mph if viewed from high above the Earth, as is the Earth around it. Now, start that car and start driving East at 50mph, the car is now traveling 1050mph East, 50mph faster than the Earth and someone viewing it from a stationary point above the Earth would see it moving away faster than the Earth around it. If that same car went Westward at 50mph instead it would appear to be traveling at 950mph towards the East when viewed from that stationary point above the Earth.

You still need to expend the same amount of gas to make that car move Eastward at 50 mph as if you were making it move North, South or West at 50 MPH. From the viewpoint above the Earth that car is expending energy to move around the Earth's surface, the same amount of energy no matter what direction it is going.

Try this experiment. Get a big ball, like a beach ball or a basketball. Now get a few ants and put them onto the surface of the ball. Spin the ball at an axis and observe the ants crawling around the surface of that ball. The ants still expend the same amount of energy and relative to the surface of the ball they are always walking at the same speed. From the ants perspective they are still traveling at the same speed, but from your perspective viewing them from above, those ants are traveling at different speeds, depending on what direction they decide to walk along the surface of the ball while it rotates.

So you are saying the Earth stops spinning for the other 13 hours of the day when it is dark out? Plug those additional 13 hours into your calculation and it should work...you know, a 24 hour day/night cycle.

We can observe the constellations remain the same year after year. If there were a moving earth this would not be the case.
