NO!

The movie followed the book pretty close and was an accurate representation of Kings novel.

You've never read the book, apparently.

Exactly, I grew up in Maine. My best friends dad attended college with Stephen King. Met him a few years ago, and asked over dinner his thoughts about The Shinning and the controversy that surrounded it.

He isn't impressed at how Kubrick morphed the story. He called it the worst adaptation of his work ever done (and after seeing Tommy Knockers, thats saying something).

After seeing Weidner's documentaries (part 1 & 2) I think he's on to something.
