Job market sucks in Texas. I'm trying to find a different job.

I have 12 years experience, a degree and while I do have a decent job now, I have not had a single reply. Pretty scary when you are on top of your game and cannot find a job.

I still have a job but I don't know for how long....with Obama care coming, everybody in the medical industry is nervous.

Only time will tell.

Re: Thousands of layoffs in April

April has set a record for job layoffs...

My contract prematurely ended in April as an expected work order from the state did not come thru. Initially, the first week I found interest in my resume but the following week I was told that employers had either hired iterally or postponed hiring. However, now in May it seems to have picked up again. I'm in Oregon.

I have done two interviews today and another to go plus scheduled 2 I don't have time to attend so i stayed off the schedule, and 6 more to set up that are aging. Wolf Blitzer on CNN just said that Obama claims to have created 4 million jobs since 2009 when the job loss was at 4,595,000 lost jobs when he took office. Wolf says that we only need to gain 95,000 jobs a month until November to get all the jobs back that were lost when Obama became president in January 2009.

With that good news, everything is looking hunky dory, so commence with the spending again.

I live in Northern California, one of the worst states in terms of being hit hard by the recesssion. the unemployment rate is higher here than in most part of the country.

We have an indian casino about 3 miles from our house and every time I go in there the place is absolutely packed to the max - you can't find an empty machine or table anywhere. There are other casinos in the area as well and they are always crowded.

If the economy is so bad, you would never know it, as there are thousands of people around here that have enough disposable income to throw it away gambling.

Traveland USA RV mall to close.

IRVINE – Traveland USA, one of the nation's first one-stop shops for recreational vehicles and services and a fixture in Irvine for nearly four decades, is about to close its gates for good.

38-acre parcel that Traveland has occupied off the I-5 freeway at Sand Canyon Avenue since 1973.
IRVINE CALIFORNIA.

Weekends often saw 1,400 cars come through the gates, many loaded with families who would picnic at the duck pond and enjoy entertainment at the nearby gazebo.

I was living in Sydney Australia for 8 years, when I decided to come home last June. I was home one week doing interviews and putting resumes. I had 2 job offers in the first week home, and I took one of those jobs, and I just left there last month because a better job came along. I have never had a problem getting a job.

The unemployment rate edged lower to 8.1% from 8.2%, but it fell because more people stopped looking for work. Some 342,000 people dropped out of the labor force to mark the second decline in a row, the Labor Department said Friday.

Thier math is great, isn't it? 340,000 just quit looking, add 115,000 jobs and its a drop of 1/10th of a percent.
It really does appear to be hit and miss. Some places are doing great, some terriable

I'm a software engineer who has worked in the Silicon Valley for most of the past decade. I agree that there is plenty of work there. The problem is that the jobs you are offering are for the most part contracts with no benefits.
I think most folks who live in the Bay Area would agree that $110K plus benefits might buy a lower middle class existence for a small family. Without healthcare coverage, $110K will quickly bankrupt the average family residing in the area.
No offense, but I truly believe that headhunters are a serious detriment to our collective well being as society.
