Was Romney a Democrat?
A Romney aide confirmed that the future governor had been a Democrat.

from

[link to www.buzzfeed.com]

And

The implication is that Romney had either never voted between his registration as a independent in 1979 and 1992 (so his vote in 1992 automatically enrolled him as a Democrat) or that he was a regular Democrat voters in those earlier elections and changed to Republican to run for Senate.

This stands out to me because I have heard so many Republicans ESPECIALLY IN LEADERSHIP say how important it is for the party to stick together. I say, no we should vote for the best candidate regardless and they have a screaming fit. Yet....here it is. Their man votes for Democrats and not the party line. Why say one thing and support someone who does the opposite. Lying politicians.....and they wonder why they are losing control.

You are absolutly right about the 2 party system of control. This year, for a change, some of the people are trying to get involved and actually steer things in the right direction. Understanding things like this is helpful and can result in people waking up to the control system and getting involved in taking control back.

At least that's what I'm hoping will happen...

My point is the Republican leadership saying we need to all back Romney even if he's not the best candidate just to show party solidarity is a bunch of crap.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12483265

Yes it does. It matters because it shows yet more deceit on his part and the part of the media which paints him as Captain Conservative. If more conservatives knew this, what little support I believe he has would taper off which would mean more votes for Ron Paul.

However, Romney has one supporter who overshadows all others: a certain fellow named Mr. Diebold. This particular supporter can turn 1 vote into a hundred, or into a thousand, or whatever number he wants. He can only be defeated by a landslide so massive, so complete, that there is absolutely no question about the winner.

Because the media lies and covers up facts about Romney, Dr. Paul will never get enough votes to win beyond all reasonable doubt. And Mr. Diebold will do his thing. And then you have your twins duking it out next fall, and at THAT point it doesn't really matter.

But here and now, it matters very much.

Most of the GOP rank and file already knows that he's a joke. That's why it took him so long for him take control of the race even though he was running against a bunch of losers. He's this year's John McCain or Bob Dole, another liberal leaning Republican who is going to win the nomination essentially by default and get stomped in the general election.

Re: Was Romney a Democrat?
He was very moderate when governor of Massachusetts, but he had to be if he wanted any hope of reelection or actually getting anything passed.

The truth is, I don't think Romney actually believes in anything, except what's good for Romney. I think he's a pure sociopath and it's all about satisfying his own ego, nothing more. He's already got all the money he could need (though I'm sure he'll make more for himself if he can). Being president would just slake his thirst for reassuring himself that he really is the center of the Universe. He'll do or say anything, project any image, do whatever he thinks will make that path happen.

(Something tells me I'm not saying too much that is new for a lot of people here.)
Her lips were red, her looks were free,
Her locks were yellow as gold:
Her skin was as white as leprosy,
The Night-Mare LIFE-IN-DEATH was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

So why give the current prez another four years? He has learned the ropes and knows all the in's and out's. Send obama packin' and let's find out if the new guy can be "dazed and confused" for his first four years (without threatening what little rights the American people have left). Who knows, maybe in another four years there might be someone with a pinky's worth on integrity running for prez. For now Romney seems to be the "Lesser of two evils".

And if you vote for obama there is no question you might be retarded or just plain dumb! Open you eyes and ears! Listen and see! obama for another four years would just love to pull the rug out from under you. Your remaining rights...Pffft GONE! Your remaining freedom...History! Give this current little Marxist want-a-be another four and his gloves "WILL" come off. It's no way to run this country.

BTW I just love threads like this subverting the opposition of obama and making him "SEEM" a little more appealing than the other guy. *sigh* If Romney had been a Democrat at one time and pulls shy of being a "Goldwater Republican" then so be it! If he shows moderate beliefs as a leader, that is considerable better than the so called leader in the WH now. Lesser of two evils........
