WTF... Riddle Me This.. Super Moon
OK,

I've been doing some research on the Super Moon, being interested in it...

The last super moon was March 19 2011, and supposedly the next super moon was not supposed to happen until November 16 2016?

Can Someone explain this?

Links for Reference:

[link to www.chacha.com]

[link to www.chacha.com]

But look what NASA says:

[link to science.nasa.gov]

"The full Moon of March 19th occurs less than one hour away from perigee--a near-perfect coincidence1 that happens only 18 years or so," adds Chester."

But then... If it is only supposed to happen once every 18 years.. Why are we getting it again after roughly a year?

damned

bump

No one else finds this strange?

Even the news I watched last night locally mentioned it is only supposed to happen once every 18 years.. No mention of it happening just last year though...

Hmmm...

Maybe last year it wasn't the same thing?

I dunno.

This is at least the second or third "super moon" I can remember being hyped since the turn of the century.
Same weird news hype of Mars being the closest to earth in about the same time period..as if the previous years "super moon" or "MARS IS CLOSER TO EARTH THAN IT HAS EVER BEEN" kind of news on a broken record with very few actually taking note...which is even more bizarre.

But the Mars Closest to Earth comes out every year as a hoax?

Could it be they are doing the same thing with the super moon?

So that when the fucker has reached "Roche's Limit" we won't panic until it splits apart in the sky and starts falling on us?

But I thought the moon was moving AWAY from the Earth by a bit each year...

So much contradiction it's not even funny.

You also forgot to add they also generally make bombs and place them in odd places :D

LOL.

I never claimed to not have issues ;)

Everyone has issues, the only difference is how we deal with them, and if we repress them, or let them out of the cage.

I'm not saying this is related to doom, but it is kind of odd that this hasn't gotten more attention due to the 18 years thing.

I am totally on your side. When I heard about the super moon news a few days ago I was like "wtf?..there was a supermoon(once every eighteen years MY ASS) last year and some even before that since the new century began...and the same reaction about the Mars(once every eighty years MY ASS) news.

@ Korangar:

I'm not saying there will be doom.

I was just trying to point out that it's odd that what is supposed to happen every 18 years is supposedly happening again. :)

I even suggested we call it a "Blue Super Moon" :D

Good thread OP. glad you posted this. I seem to remember a Super Moon Very recently, like 5-6 months ago. In fact, here's an article on it:

"In effect from November 18 (2011) into December 4, this SuperMoon eclipse looks to be most potent around November 20, 23, 25 and 26, plus December 3."
