Perhaps your husband can understand being practical in an uncertain world and one thinks better in stressful times with food in their belly and clean warm clothes on their body.

My husband has a greater understanding of economics than I do however, three years go he thought I was irrational purchasing items such as a Berkey water filtration system, propane heaters, Volcano II collapsible stove with a propane attachment and freeze dried foods.

I ignored him then one day about almost two years ago, he came into my computer room and looked and what I had acquired bit by bit and asked how long would what we have hold us. He became an outright enthusiast when we lost power for over a week and the generator for power the heaters for warmth the easy to prepare food and not to forget stored water for drinking and washing and the runoff from the roof for the toilets we were comfortable.

Apparently, he took a long hard look at our society and where it was headed, along with naturally occurring problems and decided that it was a good idea to be prepared for what might happen economically.

I work slowly speak my mind but had to wait until he realized that being prepared is better than the alternative and if jobs are lost we have extra everything including clothing, shoes and it is that much less we have to worry about and nothing goes to waste.
