anyone speaking negatively about ron paul is an obvious obama supporter. romney is being pushed for the sole purpose of ensuring another 4 years for obama. paul is an obvious thorn in the side to the establishment, which as it sits currnetly, has never had to experience america pushing for actual change. this explains the crazy amount of loss of liberty and preparations to deal with millions of prisoners inside of the united states. they aren't going to give it up without a fight. i'm not a republican, nor am i a democrat. neither of these things are what they started out being and are at this point blatantly the same thing. the establishment has no clue how to deal with this. they're losing on all fronts. the best thing is win or lose for ron paul. the message isn't going to go away. it's only going to grow, as it has over the last few years. is the time now? i think so, it's just as possible as anything else.

some folks don't believe anything unless it's on fox news or cnn though, and that's fine. i never forget that both of those networks are run by the very establishment that paul threatens. you're talking about a network of people that have killed millions of people and assassinated nearly all leaders that oppose the federal reserve and IMF, so i don't put anything beneath them. i have no ill words for anyone supporting obama, just feel sorry for them.

The majority of Iowans on the list to go to Tampa for the GOP national convention could be aligned with Ron Paul, a presidential candidate who represents a movement focused on limited government and constitutional principles.

Of the 13 delegates and 13 alternates elected today for the national convention, just one has publicly endorsed Mitt Romney for president – Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad. And just three others publicly supported Rick Santorum, who won the Iowa caucuses but is no longer in the race.

The national delegate slate is far from finalized yet, but if the Paul trend in the Iowa delegation continues, the upshot will be that the Iowa caucuses essentially had three winners: Romney on caucus night, Santorum after the certified vote, and Paul in the delegate count.

Some Iowa Republicans worry the upheaval could endanger their first-in-the-nation voting status. Iowa has long been on shaky ground, and the added criticism emboldens the argument that the Republican National Committee should strip Iowa of its coveted role as the central presidential testing grounds.

The at-large delegates nominated today are: Branstad; U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley; Margaret Stoldorf of Red Oak; Michelle Bullock of Ankeny; James Mills of Nora Springs; Steven Anders of Council Bluffs; Roger Leahy of Fairfield; Mark Hansen of Council Bluffs; William Johnson of Dubuque; Lexy Nuzum of Winterset; Andrea Bie of Waterville; David Fischer of Altoona; and Drew Ivers of Webster City.

Ten of the 13 have expressed public support for Paul, such as by donating money or volunteering for his campaign.

The alternate delegates are Cody Hoefert, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, Ruth Long, Sam Clovis, Jeff Jorgensen, Steve Sukup, Lisa Smith, state Sen. Brad Zaun, David Wiederstein, Mike Gresham, Jenifer Bowen, John Bowery, Tracee Knapp, and Therese Davis.

Hoefert, Clovis and Sukup publicly endorsed Santorum. Bowen is the executive director of Iowa Right to Life, whose board declined to endorse a candidate, but many other anti-abortion groups such as the Susan B. Anthony List, were aligned with Santorum.

The slate goes before state convention. It can be amended to replace certain delegates before a final up or down vote.

Six of the eight members of the nominating committee voting on delegates today have public ties to Paul’s campaign and his philosophy of limited government. But they insisted that they elected people they believe are politically active and good Republicans – and have no idea who the delegates will back in Tampa. Iowa’s 28 delegates are “unbound,” meaning they aren’t required to vote for a nominee based on the results of the caucuses.

Would most of the 13 delegates tentatively selected today vote for Paul?

“It wouldn’t be right for me to speculate,” said nominating committee member Nancy Bowery, was a county coordinator for Paul’s Campaign for Liberty.

But committee member Monte Shaw said that’s clearly the case. All the delegates are Paul supporters aside from Branstad, Grassley and Stoldorf who is “just an old-school Republican” who pre-dates the Ron Paul movement, Shaw said. The alternates are a more mixed group.

The results of today’s selection process wasn’t surprising, said Shaw, a former GOP state central committee member who has kept his caucus preference private, but has confirmed that it was neither Romney nor Paul.

Paul activists have been organizing and training their supporters for years, he said.

“If Mitt Romney wanted more delegates, his campaign would’ve spent one staff hour and one penny on it. They didn’t,” Shaw said. “There’s no conspiracy going on here. It’s called hard work. It pays off. If people don’t like it, they should get more motivated in four years.”

Another 12 delegates and 12 alternates will be selected at reconvened district convention meetings on June 15. Like at the district conventions in April, Paul activists are expected to have a strong presence that night, too. Iowa has 28 delegates total; the state party chairman and two RNC members round out the delegation.

According to Iowa Republicans, here are some of the implications if the Paul trend continues in the Iowa delegation:

1. Paul, who won third place in the Iowa caucuses, could end up with the best Iowa representation at the national convention when it comes time to vote for the GOP presidential nominee.

2. Iowa would have the unusual legacy of awarding top honors to three GOP presidential candidates in one election cycle. Romney won the Jan. 3 caucuses, then Santorum was declared the winner of the certified vote 16 days later, and Paul could claim the majority of Iowa’s delegates.

3. The upheaval could spell trouble for Iowa’s first-in-the-nation status. Critics could use the confusion as ammunition to persuade the Republican National Committee to strip Iowa of its role as the lead-off state in the nominating process.

4. Several other states are on track to give Paul the majority of their delegates. He will likely have more backers in Tampa than would be expected given his rankings in caucus and primary votes around the country – a coup that some Republicans consider a hijacking but which is wholly within the rules. Nevertheless, it’s unlikely Paul activists will trigger a brokered convention. Paul won’t have enough delegates to reach the jackpot of 1,144 necessary to become the nominee.

5. Iowa could be sending one of its most eccentric slates to a national convention. One delegate, Lexy Nuzum, 26, is currently registered as a Republican, but she was a Democrat in 2010, according to voter records. Because there are only 25 GOP delegate slots to give away out of 600,000 Republicans, the slots have been traditionally given to Iowans with a lengthy or significant history of dedicated service to the party. Establishment Republicans are also worried that some delegates on the at-large list have positions that don’t sync with traditional party orthodoxy.

I was just saying this ("It's pretty obvious the establishment is pro Romney cuz probably they know Romney can't win against obama") to my pro Obama friend who currently lives with his family who makes well over 200,000 a year.

He said Ron Paul is too far right and a majority of people in this country aren't looking for that kind of revolution or change.

I told him people sitting in his household bracket of income don't, but a majority don't sit in that bracket.

So it's really making sense to me why people will distort truth and defend such "corporate" ideologies because Ron Paul is also threatening the lives of people such as my friend.
