As one who could be perceived as "spiritless" let me explain...you would almost certainly read me as spiritless because...

1) I follow conspiracies...most do NOT (lol) and so I feel a bit like "an outsider" or "insider"? And therefor the silence...and perceived lack of engagement. What do we talk about, after all? Zombies? 2012? Obama's BC? Come on!

2) I deal with customers...all...day...sometimes (no offense) their "spirits" just do NOT know when to stop "shining"...they make my ears bleed with their totally "too much information" stories...sometimes I want to cut my own head off! Oh, really? You perceive I am now a hollow shell? NFS! Really?!!


Now, give me somebody with eyes wide open and you won't shut me UP!!!! I will be alll over that!

JUST FYI

I don't know if the article and Carlos are talking about the same people. The people with nothing in their eyes are not the ones being labelled mentally ill. Quite the opposite. Those being labelled mentally ill are those that are aware of reality. You can pick out these people from the crowd because their eyes are soaking in what they see. Spiritless humans are the ones that go through life relating to each other with small-talk, validating their materialistic existence by buying thing after thing.

Takes one to know one principle:
If you think those that you despise have no soul...

Starting from an equality base, of course I'm unwilling to accept these ideas at first view. It must be an eternal problem, how to prove one's own spirit, never mind others.

The Ancient Greeks made much of the power of the heart and it has always bothered me - my awareness, at least emotionally, is of my thoughts and the feelings in my solar plexus, and if I physically felt emotion in my heart, I would probably call for an ambulance. Have I missed a point somewhere? Or have I no soul?

Also, what of instant communication? The "knowing without doubt" who is calling on the phone the moment it rings, kind of thing? In her later years, I had this frequently happen with my mother, where either of us may be about to pick up the phone to call and "ring ring", one of us had beaten the other to it. Also, as her terminal illness kicked in and both of us collapsed at the same moment but 40 miles apart? Is this "soul" communication, or something lower in the soul - spirit - aether - ego - body food chain at work?

You see, I'm not convinced. I prefer to think that there is something worthwhile and valid even in the worst despot - I was looking at a picture of a very fine oil painting recently only to find that it was the work of one of the Kray twins (London gangland figures jailed for murder in '60s afair), the expression and genius of the work just didn't seem to map to a violent criminal who had tortured and murdered and was serving a life sentence. But there it was. It highlights questions of "nurture or nature".

i like to add that logic in and of itself can lead to a vicious circle of never ending thought loops- in order to free oneself logic has to be utilized supported by REASON.

And they produce poisons like this to feed to us and our animal riends.

depends on how you define spiritless.

there are those who have not yet achieved unity with divinity. they need to be guided to this experience. they are the spiritless majority.

then, there are those who have transcended divinity. the fire of desire has been extinguished, so they can be said to be sprit-less, but they understand the spirit. this is a more profound experience. nirvana is the extinguishing of the candle flame. it is the beginning of your new, deeper life.
