Folks,,, Simple,,, all the other parts of the world have found a happy balance between clean air and good mpg..
Our EPA,, went way beyond common sense and is the reason why our cars get 1/2 of what they could get.. After all if we used 1/2 the fuel where would the TAXes come from to fix the roads?????????
Its all a big game to dig deeper in our pockets..

Quoting: Sodbust 15777811 Catalysts here in the US are "supposed" to help clean the environment but in my 2002 Monte Carlo the cat became so clogged at 100k miles that the mileage had dropped below 20 MPG. I "took" care of the issue and I'm getting over 34 MPG and the car is running better than it was when we got it with only 65k miles on it and the most we ever got in highway MPG's was 29.5. So tell me the cat is cleaning the air while screwing up MPG's and ruining the engine by making it run hotter! It runs hotter and causes the engine to wear faster and the oil won't last 2500 miles much less the 6000 they "suggest" you change it in! Frackin EPA sucks IMO! No catalysts overseas on their cars and they drive more than 60mph upwards of 100mph usually and their cars last much longer. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
