why is this not showing on usgs? I see it on CSEM-EMSC Feed
and it occurred about 25 minutes ago - lots of weirdness with the eq reporting on usgs lately

USGS does NOT post quakes until NEIC report comes in and it's fairly sure of the magnitude.

So why have they posted the 3.3 in Alaska that came way after this one in Japan? And secondly, until very recently, the reporting of quakes from Japan by usgs was pretty quick - within a few minutes. It's not really a big deal but I'm just curious - maybe your answer is correct but usgs is getting unreliable lately

Because USGS has it's own seismologic measuring devices around USA, Canada and South America too I think.

But it does not have them in other areas of the world and relies on the final magnitude being decided by NEIC in Denver before posting it.

On a side note Japan is one of the countries it take a long time posting quakes from.

whats particularly disconcerting is that there have not been any quakes over 6.0 since before the 1st of the month...

Yeah but I also noticed the Ionosphere hasn't been orange since the first of the month.

Big quakes only seem to occur when the above map has large orange patch/patches on it and when the HAARP magnetometer is active as well.

This is just my observation.
