Bye bye unemployment benefits
The federal extended benefits program has provided the jobless with up to 20 weeks of unemployment checks after they've run through their state and their federal emergency benefits, which together last up to 79 weeks.
But the extended benefits program is expiring throughout the country as the economy improves. To be eligible for these benefits, a state must show that its unemployment rate is at least 10% higher than it was in at least one of the past three years. [link to money.cnn.com]

You shouldn't have been living off the government (tax payer) if you had a years worth of savings, that should have been used first. No one has pride any more, just takes the handouts.

I've never got unemployment Insurance but will this coming winter when I get laid off from the golf club, they do that with full time seasonal workers I guess. Will be a new experience for me and I won't feel guilty about it since I've paid into it for 35 years of my working life. LOL

What do you mean I shouldn't have done that? This savings is what I consider or shall I say considered my retirement money. Unemployment is just that, to get you by until u find a job. Are you saying the 25% of federal taxes I paid the last 10 years of my employment should be wasted on other things?

Are people allowed to claim unemployment a year or two after being let go by their employer?

And according to you are you saying that it would have been better off if I didn't save and collected unemployment instead? Maybe people shouldnt get rewarded if they save wisely?

Can you claim benefits one or two years after being laid off? I believe the answer is no, now go get bent.

Re: Bye bye unemployment benefits
I just got laid off in April. I made $30 an hour and I was replaced by a robot.

The economy here is terrible. What jobs are available pay $9/hr.

And now, because the economy is 'improving' (obvious and utter BS), I will not be eligible for unemployment extensions when my 26 weeks of state aid run out later this year.

I DO NOT feel guilty about collecting unemployment insurance.

You idiots who think people collecting UI are lazy bums are ridiculous!

Do you understand what is happening here? This the start of the GREATEST DEPRESSION. This is the END OF WORK for a lot of people.

The world has changed. These jobs are never coming back.

We've been replaced by technology and slave labor overseas.

And this is just the very beginning of this Depression. The very first stages... it will get much worse.

So have some compassion for those out of work and spare us the insults, you will be joining us sooner or later and you'll be thankful for your UI when you do.

Whether the State will have any money left at that point is another matter.

Better that money go to feed the poor than to manufacture excessive amounts of military hardware for all the wars which have made a few very rich yet have caused so much misery and destruction.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of tax dollars go into the war machine, and the pockets of those who direct it all.

Yet their media get poor ignorant slobs all worked up over innocent Americans who can't find work.

Some people made so little when they were working that they couldn't save enough money for the next two months without work. Should those people just set up camp in the wooded area off the shoulders of an interstate?

What's wrong with society is that everybody is only looks after themselves. YOU INCLUDED. HATERS INCLUDED.

Haters only hate because they hate their lives and hate their meaningless job and hate that somebody is out there 'taking' their tax dollars to slack off.

FUCK YOU HATERS!

You tax dollars are going to wars overseas,
Wall street bailout bonuses
Corporate Giveaways

The amount actually paid to the PEOPLE who have been FUCKED OVER by NAFTA job-stealing politics is TRIVIAL!!

You people are such tools for the system. You embarrass yourselves.

Re: Bye bye unemployment benefits
THIS IS THE END OF WORK.

Think about that.

This is a major paradigm change.

Technology has evolved. We don't need people doing those simple, repetitive jobs anymore.

Our companies are completing against Asian sweatshops. How can they pay us middle class wages when their competition is paying $5 a day? To pay US workers more is now bad for business.

Project this out to the future. We will all be working in sweatshops with little to no benefits.

There is no need or incentive for the companies to do otherwise.

They care nothing for us. Only for the bottom line.
