I know a multimillionaire who can't spell. A brilliant woman, too! Spelling basics...phonics... are usually started in first grade. The school system where she went was trying something new....no phonics.

Content is far more important than spelling. However, since people spend a lot of time communicating online in written language I find it surprising a lot of people haven't managed to pick up spelling etc from seeing it every day.

Maybe they can't be bothered to pay attention to what others write, I dunno. If you did the verbal equivalent in a conversation, people would be like "wtf are you talking about, stop mumbling, I can't understand what your saying. English motherfucker, do you speak it? "
