How To Get The Coldest Air From A Window Air Conditioner
1.) Place Air Conditioner In Window

2.) Plug The Air Conditioner In The Electrical Outlet

3.) Set Thermostat To #9 Or The Highest Setting

4.) Turn The Fan Speed On LOW And Keep The Fan Speed On LOW

5.) Then Just Let The Air Conditioner Do It's Work Keeping Your Place Nice And Cool

This really DOES work. It does blow the coldest air. This will keep your apartment very, very cool during the Summer. Share with others if you like.

I remember we had one of those when we lived in NY years ago when I was little. I remember it hurt my eyes when I kept them open because of how strong the air was.

Run a portable evaporative cooler inside your home along with the AC unit - yea, it will run more power, but your house will get ice box cold...

Re: How To Get The Coldest Air From A Window Air Conditioner
Running on med or high would probably work better at extracting more cold from the coils before it is run through the compressor again.

The outgoing temp would be less however, as the cool gets diluted by more air flow, but as air volume is higher overall, it would result in more cooling.

The low fan would only feel colder at the window, but the rest of the room would be warmer, and the conditioner would cycle off more often as it reaches its cold set point, because the air around the conditioner is colder.

Re: How To Get The Coldest Air From A Window Air Conditioner
One lady use to keep her air conditioner on with the fan on high but it was cooling only one bedroom. When she heard about this she tried it. She placed the thermostat on high setting ( the coldest setting) and then switched the fan speed on low and kept the fan speed on low. Now her ENTIRE mobile home is nice and very cool inside. She is so thrilled that she probably wish she new about this a long time ago.

It is going to be another hot Summer but it doesn't have to be inside your place.

Maybe this can be a sticky so all can know about this.

Well, if the low fan makes it colder then no fan at all will be the coldest, so just rip that fucking thing out...

Try this for yourself and you will even find out it does work. Place thermostat to the coldest setting, place fan speed on low and keep the fan speed on low and just let the air conditioner do it's thing.

My brother lived in a 3 story apartment facing the west with no shade. He places his digital air conditioner on 60* and he kept the fan speed on low. His air conditioner kept his place very nice and cool. He has to have the windows closed because of allergies. And with out an air conditioner, his place would be unbearably hot.

Let me share some basic knowledge on how an AC works...once the evaporator gets to it's coldest point the compressor kicks off so it doesn't freeze up...the system is built to maintain that maximum cold point even at high fan...at low fan it just cycles less...

New air conditioners today are very energy efficient. And the compressor turns off and on keeping a nice and very cool constant temperature.

Re: How To Get The Coldest Air From A Window Air Conditioner
Ya sure, thats fine, but.........

If you run a evaporator / dehumidifier, and a small fan to blow the air around in those areas the cool air fails to move, you will achieve better cool air saturation.

To big an air conditioner for the room size cools the room quicker but fails to draw out the moisture.

They are still energy hogs, and all AC systems cycle on and off, if they didn't then the evaporator would freeze up...

Re: How To Get The Coldest Air From A Window Air Conditioner
A window air conditioner is designed to cool one room. The size of the room that it is able to cool is determined by the BTU output of the unit. A 5000 BTU air conditioner will not cool your house. In fact, it will cool only about 150 square feet regardless of where you set the fan.

The better way:

Leave the AC unit on at full power at all times.

Plug the AC into a "thermostat outlet" that is closer to the center of the room. The thermostat outlet will bypass the AC unit's, and will control when the unit turns on and off.

Hook up a dryer vent to the cold air and redirect the cold air to another part of the room, that way the AC is not sucking in cold air that comes out and always gets fed warm air.
