Re: Physicist: Fukushima Unit 2 Has 100% liquification, Never Seen Before In Nulclear Physics
Erm...

Ok. So we entomb it to keep the flow of radiation down, but what about putting something under it to stop it from reaching the water table? So far, I haven't heard that this is possible. We are 25 years after the Chernobyl disaster and that was is capped and still burning happily on its merry way to the water table.

How do we stop the downward threat?
 Quoting: Éireann

Nothing can be done about the downward threat. Nothing. And even if there were, a cap on top should not interfere.

But the prime hazard to humans are the gasses and particles that are leaving from the surface, and there IS something that can be done about that.
 Quoting: ehecatl

E. is absolutely correct. Why is it not being done immediately?

A reinforced dome with controlled venting into depressurizing decontamination systems in the event of thermal steam ejection to minimize air contamination.

This would give us some time to develop new technology to deal with the corium.

If they had started doing this a year ago we'd be well on the way to a permanent solution.

Instead, the priorities have been to hide the details of the situation from the world.

What a bunch of fucktards we have in control. They should be kicked square in the ass.. then, 30 days in the electric chair.

A new look at prolonged radiation exposure
A new study from MIT scientists suggests that the guidelines governments use to determine when to evacuate people following a nuclear accident may be too conservative.

The study, led by Bevin Engelward and Jacquelyn Yanch and published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, found that when mice were exposed to radiation doses about 400 times greater than background levels for five weeks, no DNA damage could be detected.

Current U.S. regulations require that residents of any area that reaches radiation levels eight times higher than background should be evacuated. However, the financial and emotional cost of such relocation may not be worthwhile, the researchers say.

“There are no data that say that’s a dangerous level,” says Yanch, a senior lecturer in MIT’s Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. “This paper shows that you could go 400 times higher than average background levels and you’re still not detecting genetic damage. It could potentially have a big impact on tens if not hundreds of thousands of people in the vicinity of a nuclear powerplant accident or a nuclear bomb detonation, if we figure out just when we should evacuate and when it’s OK to stay where we are.”

Until now, very few studies have measured the effects of low doses of radiation delivered over a long period of time. This study is the first to measure the genetic damage seen at a level as low as 400 times background (0.0002 centigray per minute, or 105 cGy in a year).

“Almost all radiation studies are done with one quick hit of radiation. That would cause a totally different biological outcome compared to long-term conditions,” says Engelward, an associate professor of biological engineering at MIT.

If the core is liquid and that liquid can follow a stream-like path to Earth's aquifer which would then pollute the potable water supply does this reinforce Revelation's prediction of 'dead' water? If the water is polluted to undrinkable and the life within that water becomes inedible then truly we must put more stock in Biblical teachings. I guess it really is time to stock up on food & water.

Re: Physicist: Fukushima Unit 2 Has 100% liquification, Never Seen Before In Nulclear Physics
all this possible danger and what do we get....what?
we do not get lots of electricity from the reaction.
no do you know what we get?
heat...that is all. just heat to boil water to make freaking steam.....
then that stream can turn a turbin and rotate a generator.

so all this is to just turn a run of the mill turbin generator.

what about using the tides.
or maybe bring up cold water from the bottom of the oceam and use the falling cold water to turn the turbin.
both are not new ideas...and are in use in hawaii and have been for over 3 decades!

FFS japan sits on a valcano! GEO-thermal. guess what it been in use in Hawaii as well...
with the current solar pannel PV solar in only at 35% of what it could be.

why do we need to use such highly volatile matter just to make freaking STEAM?
any takers???
anyone?

This is the way City and Industrial based people think.

The fact is, is that the city people could all die off and the rural people would go on living just fine. But the city people cannot survive without the rural people.

This I tell you. There are people who live perfectly happy lives, nay... I say happier lives, who live rurally and would never need to justify nuclear power.

FAAAAARRRR better no power at all, than nuclear power. But it really is not like that. This is all backhanded pressure from the military establishment for the production of weapons.

Nuclear Plants cost far more to build maintain and decommission than they ever earn in electricity.

Alternative sources work best on the site of the end user for the most part, and that is how power production should be primarily, but TPTB want the masses to all be buying their electricity from the central source. That way they can all get their cut and maintain an iron grip on the power.

there has been a lot of money and effort of sway everyone to use NNP through out the world.
would this be for the good of the world....or....
the make money. mining procsessing and the control of the electrical current.
we in the 1960 had the chance to go over the solar...but it became clear the control of current would be lost.
so all reseach into solar was almost stopped.

look

watch how Bert can stay safe from radiation. and look he is smiling!

this all started back in the 1950's

alot of money has been spent on the image.
and it seems only the image is where the money went.
R&D...who needs that the modle worked just keep making them and let the PR department lose.

well here we are in 2012.....how did it workout for them $$$$$
how did it workout for US...not so good.

just think if the PR money went to R&D on things like solar?

or even thing our minds did not get the chance to think up?????

Re: Physicist: Fukushima Unit 2 Has 100% liquification, Never Seen Before In Nulclear Physics

AS FOR ANTS, THEY CAN EASILY SURVIVE A NUCLEAR WINTER THAT WOUDL KILL ALL HUMAN LIFE.

The next Step would be Monkeys.

YOUR ARTICLE: ''Current U.S. regulations require that residents of any area that reaches radiation levels eight times higher than background should be evacuated. However, the financial and emotional cost of such relocation may not be worthwhile, the researchers say.''

this is basically saying they are going to leave you to ROT

cruise
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16091994

Large modern city regions simply cannot be evacuated, and indeed a government might even deny the rights of its people to emigrate in cases of wide spread and chronic danger. Someone needs to continue to operate the nuclear plants for one thing. For those who do emigrate, reception countries will continue to exist, but the price to pay to get in may go up.

I'm sure i read YOU suggest in previous threads we (the world )get rid on Nuclear energy?

Why?

Why have you failed to take into account the advancement of reactor design since the original Fukushima design concept from 40 years ago?

A great place to support the pro nuclear shills from. because you know that your own little habbitat will be largely untouched by the winds from Japan.

If you look back a year or so ago... I was so pissed off - I was called a racist. Strange as that is to me.

I only think folks that don't live in this region should take a moment to listen to those that DO live in this region.

Japan, Guam and the rest of us are freaking out; but, trying to make sense of it - trying to understand - trying to cope.

By my calculations, Fukushima should just melt itself deep down into the earth at some point (in 2012, of course), upsetting a fault which then causes a better part of Japan to sink into the ocean...

The Earth's air will be spared, but the wave produced by Japan sinking...well...never mind.
