To put this in perspective, the melting point of uranium dioxide is 2865 °C that is 5,189 °F
Molten lavas temperature is just 700 °C to 1300 °C.
Or the photosphere of the sun is just around 5,500 Fahrenheit. So we are talking just 400 degrees cooler then the temperature of the suns photosphere!

Quoting: Chrit Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11629872 Have to use my corrected statement. To put this in perspective, the melting point of uranium dioxide is 2865 °C that is 5,189 °F
Molten lavas temperature is just 700 °C to 1300 °C.
*EDIT*
Or the photosphere of the sun is just around 5,500 Celcius. So we are talking just about half the temperature of the suns photosphere!

Quoting: Chrit Fixed, thx for pointing out my error. One thing we all seem to agree on is this is a very serious event and it does not seem to be going anywhere but downhill. Quoting: Chrit Quoting: Chrit 5000F is not insignificant. Boggles the mind. 'Half the temp of the sun.' Hell on Earth. ~ wb
