What I have noticed is the amount of dead tree's this year. Should mention, Im in WI too. Quoting: Valeria Yes, now that you mention it. There are a fair amount of dead trees this year. Perhaps the tomato plants should have been brought in a loooonng time ago. PunkMonkey |

Half Past Midnight User ID: 781996 United States 05/14/2012 08:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember picking dandys that big when I was a kid. Like the other poster said-lots of rain can do it. Also if you don't keep mowing them down, they're able to grow tall. The clover is pretty cool though. And I like the shirt, looks like seersucker. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1365582 Canada 05/14/2012 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fasciation ISN'T common, and strongly suggests radioactivity. However, as others said, enlarged dandies can be from radioactivity but are also just as likely to be from other causes. It's not as good of an indicator. Start looking for two headed (or other weird headed) dandies for a stronger indication of radioactivity. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9117667 United States 05/14/2012 11:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember picking conjoined blossom dandelions like that here in Central NY after Three mile Island, that was when dairy farmers had double headed calves being born, and I came down with really bad allergy symptoms and asthama, so everything now being reported in Japan sounds familiar. Obviously despite being a child then I'm still alive, but my diet by neccessity has always been garden and orchard produce and lots of berries, etc. and not much fancy baked goods/soda etc. and I've never built up much body fat until recent years, yet it's not impossible that I may have something like heart disease or cancer just not detected as yet. And yes, I knew a lot of people who died of cancer/leukemia in the last twenty years, especially those who lived on hill/mountaintops. My point is, yes, this is a bad situation, but it is not the end unless you give up. We will all die someday, but let's try and take precautions, live right, diet and exercise sensibly. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9117667 Yes, I agree with you totally. This is something to take seriously, but not freak out about. As you have proven, good living and good diet can greatly increase your odds of living a long and healthy life, despite what Fukushima is throwing at us. Good on you for staying healthy! |
