Said back in this thread that a highly placed person in the banking industry here in Greece is 100% for the geuro some time after the summer. Comes to me by my best mate who have a very huge family business in here. We'll see how this will pan out though but the banker sounded certain.

 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

What exactly do you mean by this ? Will Greece stay in the euro or not according to that guy !?
 Quoting: subzero86

My best mate's father has a big-big-big business in Athens. And as everyone he is very worried about the situation. So he had a meeting with a big fish of the banking industry. The big fish told him to not expect anything to change after the elections and during the summer. He told him that we are going to euro-2 (geuro) by the end of the year, undervalued about 50-60%. Which sucks for Greece because all the loans of people and businesses will stay in euro1 and we could instead go to drachma and have our own printing machines and not a European one. That meeting took place about a month ago. Not sure what to make of it but he sounded certain.
 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

A €uro 2 is openly being discussed. Rumour has it that Germany will be the one that decides to leave the €uro because at the moment their only option is to keep throwing money in or to cut their losses and get out. Merkel has her own electorates to please and an election coming next year.

This seems to make the most sense, imo. There is no way Germany can afford to keep bailout out other €uro countries and now there's talk of Spain needing €350 billion so they won't be able to contribute. (Remember Spain is the EU's 4th largest economy!)

Greece, Spain ,etc, will get to keep their beloved €uro but at a massive price to the citizens of those countries because it will de-value to at least half what it's worth now.

15.50 Standard & Poor's says that the short-term risk of Greece leaving the eurozone may have lessened, but there are no guarantees for the long-term.

Ture that lots of things crazy or not are openly discussed and that goes to show how fucked up the things with the economy are. True that Germany cannot afford to bailout all countries of the EU but this system so far is working greatly to their favor with massive exports and interest of 0,04 last week. They are making tons of money and economies of Southern Europe are suffering so there is no doubt that something must change. Don't think that Greece can still go with the euro even if Germany leaves. The infrastructure of the economy is completely destroyed here from the austerity and there is a serious threat that the social structure is next.

Big factor that contributed to this crisis and it is absurd. EU wants to have to have Romania to the euro by 2015 and lets be honest with ourselves here. Who's economy and products will this move favor the most? German or Romanian ones? Romania has tons of economic problems already and their people managed just last month to ease the austerity measures imposed on them.
As i said before, i understand and have compassion for Northern European citizens that they are been taxed so the Southern banks can be bailed out. Their govts though don't tell to them that they are making big money out of it. Germany borrows with 0% interest and then bails out Greece, Spain etc. with 4-7% interest. Greece last year paid 23%. These money never go back to the citizens pockets and they feel that they are been ripped off for lazy southern bastards but it is not true. Govts tell them half the truth.

Have they managed to form a government yet? Yesterday they announced they'd have it sorted by tonight, at the latest so that's not a very good sign.

Re: GREECE SITUATION UPDATES: The death of a 19-year-old Greek student has come to symbolize everything that's wrong with austerity!!!
20.28 Stefanos Manos, the leader of the small liberal party, Drasi. has resigned. He said his party, which allied itself with Dimiourgia Xana (Recreate Greece) for the June 17 elections, suffered "collateral damage" as a result of supporters leaving to support New Democracy to prevent a SYRIZA victory. The two parties only gained 1.59 percent on Sunday.

20.22 PASOK's Venizelos says that the government could potentially be formed by tomorrow lunchtime. "PASOK will support the government with honesty," he said. "The most crucial aspect is not who will be in the government but who will participate in the national negotiation team that will attempt for the most favorable review possible of the bailout." Venizelos added that SYRIZA could have taken part in the negotiations, even if it was not part of the government.

20.17 PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos issues statment saying that he will meet with MPs tomorrow at 10 a.m. to discuss how his party will participate in the new government.

Wanted to share this with you lads coz i think it's important. New finance minister of Greece will be Vasilis Rapanos, chairman of board of directors of the National Bank of Greece. A technocrat not elected by the Greek people, best mates with former bankster PM Papademos, both of them with Simitis were instrumental for Greece entering the euro and the famous swaps and cooking of the Greek books, done with Goldman Sachs. National bank of Greece of course as any national bank around the worlds owned by the Rothcilds through many companies they ve created.

Just an update on the situation here, Rapanos most likely will not be the new Finance Minister and will continue to be the head of National Bank of Greece. 2 other technocrats are considered, Zanias or Dimas.
