Some good news:
Many companies will open production lines in Greece for both servicing the local needs and for exporting. This could bring back some job positions and make some products cheaper.

Good news but lets wait to see the working conditions and the wages.

Good news indeed, actually a cousin of mine got a job in a new factory this month, she says that more companies will invest, new China and all, but the wage is a bit disappointing compared to how high the cost of life is still here, she makes 540 per month as a simple worker, 8 hours of work.

Thanks for link, insightful, i'll use it to my Greece-Turkey energy thread later. hf
The Russian offer (Sintez) can cover 1/3 of the privatization target for this year, which is 6BN, they offer 1.9 and it is 4-5 times bigger than the non-Russian offers, how can someone decline it i dunno, anything is possible with our puppets here, Russians also want the train company and the weapon industry (OSE-ELBO) when pretty much the western offers either are too low at a vulture-like level or don't care at all.
We're in trouble methinks. :(
 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

I know very well that the Russians want to invest in Greece (not only now, from long ago), but it seems there are always "problems" with us to make a deal.
 Quoting: Ostria1

Yep, i know that they badly want to invest, it's more important for them now that they'll probably get the boot out of Syria but there are always problems. I'm just worried a bit, everyone wants a piece of the pie here, govt/politicians are incompetent to handle such a big geopolitical game played out here and it's always the average innocent citizens who pay the price at the end. Just hoping for the best, not much that we minions can do about it anyways.

According to the chart she should be making a bit more but the difference is not that big, maybe she told me wage after tax reductions dunno. I'm not an ungrateful bastard, 500 is cool if the cost of living adjusts to the new wages, cousin still can't make amends with this wage and needs a bit of family support on some things. Could maybe be cool if you're living in the countryside with your own house and not pay rent.

chuckle Who am i kidding here, it sucks.

Financial prosecutors on Tuesday called for a magistrate to conduct an inquiry into whether the head of Greece’s statistical service ELSTAT, Andreas Georgiou, and two of his colleagues artificially inflated the size of the country’s budget deficit in 2009 to justify an EU-IMF bailout and subsequent austerity measures.

The prosecutors reportedly found evidence to support claims by a former employee of ELSTAT, Zoe Georganta, that Georgiou inflated Greece’s deficit for 2009 to over 15 percent of gross domestic product, a figure three times higher than the conservative government’s forecast in 2009.

Ambassador Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos on the Greek economic crisis: could this Greek Tragedy lead to civil war?

I believe that the crisis has been aggravated by the wrong measures of austerity imposed on Greece by the so-called Troika (IMF-EU and the European Central Bank) and the lack of courage of Greek governments to oppose or negotiate them. IMF has admitted in public that mistakes were made. Many Greeks are suffering because of these measures .The IMF recently admitted that it did not anticipate the high levels of recession. But mistakes have to be paid. It is a shame that the Greek Government did not estimate the cost of the damages of these mistakes to the country and ask that they be reduced from the so-called debt.

Democracy no longer exists in Greece. The austerity measures recently adopted were unconstitutional according to Greece’s highest courts. One Member of Parliament and former minister said unabashed on television that the measures are unconstitutional but he has to vote for them. In this way, he blatantly violated the oath he took when he was sworn in to protect the Constitution.

The Greek government recently made an agreement with the successor company of Blackwater to hire mercenaries for the protection of Parliament. Parliament, however, in democracies needs no protection.

The Council of State on Tuesday deemed unconstitutional a law passed almost three years ago which allows second-generation migrants to apply for Greek citizenship and to stand in local elections.

Greece’s highest administrative court ruled that only Greeks could stand for office. It also decided that the criteria for offering Greek citizenship were not sufficient and that each case should be examined individually to ensure the applicant has a genuine bond with Greece.

The EU will spend more than $3 million on ‘troll monitors’ to trawl Eurosceptic debates on the internet ahead of European elections in June 2014, UK media reports. It comes amid fears that hostility against the EU is growing.

The new strategy will include “public opinion monitoring” to “identify at an early stage whether debates of a political nature among followers in social media and blogs have the potential to attract media and citizens’ interest,” according to internal documents reportedly discovered by the Telegraph.

"Particular attention needs to be paid to the countries that have experienced a surge in Euroscepticism," a confidential document said.

 Quoting: Anonymous 33714435

Epam is the party of Kazakis, a quite good economist-analyst who has worked abroad and has many times proven right with his forecasts regarding Greek economy and matters, he was a communist when his was young but he had problems with their ideology and decided to go his own way with epam.

It is a populist movement with lots of lefty and a revolutionary ideology, pro-drachma and anti-bailout, although what makes them a bit different than the other typical left or far left parties in Greece is that they're not anti-Greek and have a national consciousness on Greek foreign policy and national matters, in their own words both the far-right and far-left, both the atheists and Christians can coexist in EPAM, dunno if this is the case indeed coz the party is not that popular yet. They also organize lots of solidarity events for their respective communities.

Imo they lack 1-2 political names other than Kazakis to make it in the parliament, in the last elections these various small parties that didn't got in the parliament got a record 18%, which is further proof of how fractured the Greek society really is the last years in political terms. I expected more from EPAM in the last elections, they messed up and lost steam somewhere in the middle of the pre-election period due to cooperation with other weird small unknown parties.
