The problem is not that the missions were real - they were.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16032346 Changing horses. They were just not as we were told. Most footage from the actual missions and lunar surface was pre-shot.
There is an unsubstantiated rumor of alien contact but we will probabaly never know the full story of what happened on the surface in 1969.
Not in our lifetime.
