if i could i would. I have the original digital file of the complete picture, it's over 200 megs. I got it from john lear. as you can imagine, the pics are taken from pretty far away. You have to zoom in and look around for yourself. Even at the resolution it is when zoomed in that far, you can tell it isn't a bunch of natural formations

I can't tell that. It just looks like a photo of the moon, it's impossible to tell for sure at that resolution but that could be a rille or a it could be a trail of ejecta craters. I don't have the time right now to play detective and try to figure out the photo's originating mission and number.

I think visually the new Star Trek was interesting , and being old enough to remember the old tv show which I saw it in my BLACK AND WHITE tv I gotta say I felt they respected the series. Yet I was dissapointed with the plot, this lack of ideas, this getting back over and over to the time-travel FXs to sort out problems in the past or future. I wonder if audience do still have some memory of the old philosophical or esoteric episodes. It seems most of the films wanna show millions of edited frames of interstellar battles to hide the lack of originality. I think it's true older generation had films while currently we have remakes. In The City at the Edge of Eternity there was no need of a ship but the Stargate Machine-Being which was like a monolith from Tiahuanaco, Bolivia. Rodenberry was original because he KNEW ancient esoterism and incorporated his knowledge with science fiction. Hence in other episode we saw a sort of Egyptian obelisc which was a computer that became like a god.

Forget Star Trek teletransporting for a while. When you turn someone into energy what pops out is energy equivalent of 1000 H BOMBS exploding simmultaneously and without mentioning the $$$$$ cost, the ENERGY to reassamble a human being requires 3.200 SUNS, not to mention if you don't wanna become a monster like THE FLY you would have to destroy just the bad ones among 90 trillion organisms. The only time I remember they actually showed something of the problem was Motionless Picture. A film which went towards the opposite direction: total boredom. We need a "bridge" between action and intelligent script. To "fax" a 2D image is easy but the resolution to fax or scan a 3D human being requires filing 909 PETABYTES (1 petabyte=1 million gigabytes), new computers come with hard drivers around 500 GB, so it'd take 2 million of the hard drivers to store you; the storage itself would be 30 times million-square foot Facebook data centers.

You remember Uhura barely transmitting some signals? Well, not just if a solar flare or other energies create a "fuzzy" problem you may reach destiny with your arms growing out of your eye sockets..., not to mention in every teletransport they will have to find a way not to create other clones or copies and remember the teletransported HAVE TO BE DESTROYED a bit like Jet Li in the film, The One if my memory doesn't betray me.

Script writers should investigate ancient concepts and present them fresh, fresh leftovers. I wonder how many of them know Incas concept of time-space is like 3 bubbles or interconnected spheres and for them future is BEHIND them, literally on their backs. Anyway, what we'll probably see is a Caucasian Khan, won't we? Interesting a famous astronomer mentioned the modern concept of vaccum reminds the ancient Inca concept of empty dark places in the sky.

But, I am not naïve. We can't expect ideas from Kurtzman who wrote Transformers, can we?

Well, with White's revised version of the Alcubierre drive, I see `warp` technology happening within the next three decades, maybe sooner. It still requires a tremendous ammount of energy, but I think it's nothing an extensive nuclear powerplant can not handle. There's still Star Trek's option of powering it per Antimatter, but that's highly risky.
Perhaps though, an antimatter powerplant build on the moon, or in high orbit would suffice in creating fuel in a safer way.

Now for building the bloody thing, there's always that proposed Japanese space-elevator; once finished, it would reduce further costs a lot.

Just saying something solves the problem doesn't.
We don't know how to do that.
