Aren't autistic people supposed to be drooling vegetables?
The little piss ant doesn't seem too off socially. That is not bloody fair. A bloody genius and more or less socially adequate. Here's hoping for something horrible to happen to him.

My thoughts are along those lines too...

Im sure if Einstein was born 16 years ago he would be dubbed autistic, adhd etc etc.

The article said this boys case isnt bad.

I've seen vaccine inflicted autism and the victims of that suffer greatly.

No such thing as a good batch. ;-) I posted that light heartedly.

Yes, my sister's son has the debilitating form of autism. He walks in circles and patterns and screams when certain colors are in front of him. Even as a toddler I can tell that it is an unpleasant condition to have.

I measure high on the Asperger traits list, but I do not share any of the debilitating OCD kinds of traits. I think they are two entirely separate things.

This is a great story. Inspiring for our future. Meanwhile, schools have to LOWER test scores to pass the students.

"By the age of three he was solving
5, 000 -piece puzzles and he even
studied a state road map, reciting
every highway and license plate prefix
from memory.
By the age of eight he had left high
school and was attending Indiana

Indianapolis advanced astrophysics
classes."

We all have a gift. Yet many refuse to find it. Worse yet, we are to oppressed to expose our gifts and ideas.
 Quoting: Sako

I'm developing a business to help therapists interact with their autistic clients in a way that will be more natural for both. The autistics/Aspergers I know are all very bright, just different. I mentioned to one that it was like he was running on a different operating system - an analogy he immediately appreciated because he's into computers. And it is absolutely true. I helped him figure out how to write "adaptive subroutines" to cope with neurotypical behaviors and rules that don't make sense, and he blossomed. And he's sharing the concept with his friends.

I agree with one poster here who said that there is more than one form of autism. I'll go a step farther and say that it can be grouped into a minimum of three general categories - damage, evolution, and damage and evolution. The smart ones, regardless of whether their bodies are damaged as well, are all very, very smart, and are capable of feats of memory, ability with mathematics, physics, computers, and music that are very rare in "normal" people (at what point does eccentricity in a genius constitute autism?). And left to manage themselves, they are the nicest people - they have great difficulty understanding motivations that are less than high-minded - it is so far beneath them it would be like asking a modern human to revert to behaving like a caveman. It seems that what gets diagnosed as autistic often could be labeled "evil deficit" just as accurately since those are the behaviors they have to develop adaptive programming to process. These not a step up in evolution, they're a leap.

There you have it, nothing new that some people want to crucify something they perceive as better than them. I bet if you walked in their shoes for a while it will drive you insane. Lots of things that comes naturally to you do not come to them, it's both a gift and a curse but some people just can't see that and get all jealous.

Maybe people are just comparing sizes with each others, it sure looks like that sometimes.

I'm curious to see his actual theory for how the universe came to be - sorry to say this bibletards, but an astro physicist isn't going to believe in god - it's just not logical. So don't use it as an excuse to grin. lol.

Nice to see some good news, over in the Netherlands almost the only way for autistic people to reach the news is a killing spree, or killers that just called autistic for their actions, hell, we even have politicians that use it as an insult.

I am autistic myself, not the most fun thing, but it has it's uses, like when a blind persons learns to hear better. :-)

I've had no official diagnosis so I don't know for certain, I've just read alot about the subject because when I was younger someone told me I had the traits.

Especially as a child I was highly anti-social, I spent every day by myself in the woods behind my parent's house, I read obsessively, I couldn't look people in the eyes, I had crazy social anxiety, all that stuff. Along with high IQ and the ability to learn how to play any musical instrument I wish - I now work as a teacher of guitar, drums and piano. It seems that I have SOMEthing related to the Asperger's condition.

But my sister's son seems to have a different condition. It is upsetting to see, because for some reason it is clear to me that the condition is physically unpleasant. When a person instinctively moves in repetition it is often because they are trying to ease some sort of physical discomfort - like my dog scratching its hindquarters over and over.

So what? I have a higher IQ than Einstein as well and instead of using it to figure stupid shit out I'm using it to trick bitches into fucking my ugly ass so I can populate the world with High IQ babies. This is of most importance because we need to offset the low IQ mud people breeding like rabbits so I have taken it as my personal duty to copulate with hot bitches and impregnate them with the seed of genius.

It's amazing how many people on GLP have a higher IQ than Einstein. Perhaps we should rename this forum "Mensa"?

The title is misleading. Asperger's is very different from full blown Autism. While people with Asperger's can be odd they are often able to excel in one specific area of interest. For example, I have taught Asperger's students at the university level -- there is no record of any full autistic students having ever attended a university or college in Canada.

Yong is a Korean child prodigy. He showed his intelligent ability since he was little. He started speaking at 6 months, he was able to read Japanese, Korean, German, English and many other language by his third birthday. At age 3, he was able to solve complicated calculus equations easily with no problems. He got his Ph.D. in physics at Colorado State University when he was 16 years old. Kim has the highest score in the planet, he was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records under “Highest IQ”; the book estimated the boy’s score at over 210.

Love this bit -

From the article "But far from complaining, Jake has turned the sleepless nights to his advantage – debunking the big bang theory."
 Quoting: alien

Yea, that show really needs a good debunking!
 Quoting: Urban

Good luck on that given that IS the way it occurred.

In the beginning was God, and then God said, "Let there be light!" And there was...

You've not yet figured out that we are all -- in fact everything is -- made of light. Think of yourself as slowed, compressed, compacted LIGHT.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15903829

Light slows down and "condenses" into basic pre-atom building blocks in the depths of open space. This has to be or else the night sky would be very bright.

The red shift thought to support the Big Bang is nothing more then light slowing down. The universe is not expanding rapidly, that is just silly.
