White babies are now officially a minority in the United States

Statistics reveal a turning point in U.S. history. Less than half of the babies is of European descent.

U.S. census statistics, published on Thursday says that more than half of newborns belong to a minority. For the first time in the history Caucasian of European ancestry are a minority of new-born babies, the American news media say.

The calculation of the population were observed between July 2010 and July 2011. 50.4 percent of newborn babies belonged to ethnic minority. Two years earlier, during the same period minorities accounted for 48.6 per cent.

The newspaper The Wall Street Journal writes that a black president, Barack Obama's selection in 2008 was a symbolic change in the American people in the face. Now, the change is also a statistical fact.

Newspaper interview with demographer William Frey says that those generations who are over 50-year-old, blacks are the largest minority. Younger generations in turn, the largest minority after European whites are those of Latin American origin.
