Did you know that the Maya had the concept of zero 700 years before Europe?

The Mayan calendar was more accurate than the calendar that Hernan Cortes had when sailed to the new world.

The Maya and Olmec measured the stars and planets...Their calendar is based on these observations and one of the reasons for ending where it does is because after that date...They wouldn't know where the stars would be located in the sky.

In other words, it would be time to start the observations all over to start a new calendar...Not that the one we see now resets like some like to believe...

I for one hope that this is all bullshit and that nothing happens aside from the usual local emergency.

They believe the Moon is out of place in the sky due to an abnormal Earth "wobble"- not that the Moon, itself, has been affected(not that it makes much difference-neither is true). Of course, the origin of that silly claim is none other than Nancy Lieder.

Oh.. right... I forgot about the supposed "Cornell paper". Yes, they think that paper says the Moon's orbit is "off". OPie, here, tossed that out with his pile of other unfounded innuendo. I see he has run away when confronted with his own statement about the Moon's orbit.

You know...There was a time...That people thought that they were really smart...They thought that the world was flat and their church backed them to the tune that if you said otherwise you'd be in a world of shit.

It's good thing that we've evolved civilly and we can basically say and believe anything we want.

There will always be someone around calling you names, but you should always speak up, fuck the people that call you stupid and claim to be scientist and scholars, they've been proven wrong many many times in history.

1) Didn't you already toss out the "flat-Earth-MYTH", or was that somebody else? Truth is, scholars figured out that Earth was round a long time ago and it was only the superstitious who didn't accept it- you have it backward, as do most people who cite that myth. Modern science is not controlled by any "church".

2) "It doesn't mean you're stupid." Actually, in this case, it kinda does mean that. It's not beliefs" which are being challenged. It is claims of fact, like that the Moon is "out of orbit". It's not, and it is really stupid to think such silly notions are a proven "fact".

In other words, it's the "anything is possible" belief system where you'ld like to think that anything you can imagine is as possible as anything else. Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way.

One more thing... It's as if someone has asked about the possibility of a rogue planet and the immediate response was name-calling. That simply isn't what has happened. People have pounded on this "Nibiru" or "Planet X" idea for years on end and refused to acknowledge the voluminous offerings citing SPECIFICALLY why certain objects do not exist(when specifics are finally posed). When, after great effort, knowledgeable people become exasperated, give up, and say that the believers are "stupid" or somesuch thing, people like you decide that "name-calling" was the only response. Wrong... very, very wrong.

Actually I don't have anything backward...At Oxford University they used to teach that bleeding someone was one of the best cures for many diseases...The church wasn't the only one teaching that the world was flat...Modern science isn't controlled by any church but it is monitored by big government and as such ultimately controlled.

Eratosthenes not only used empirical measurement to figure that out, he even determined our planet's circumference long before the church and the medieval age. The objection to Columbus was the fact that Columbus severely underestimated the circumference of the earth and therefore the distance he would have to travel. The correct figure has, again, been known since Eratosthenes measured it thousands of years ago. The objection to Columbus' estimation was actually valid, they just didn't realize he would reach the north american continent long before he could reach asia. For that matter, Columbus didn't know that either, he got lucky.

It's like you're not reading a damn thing I'm telling you. The western world knew the world was round long before Napoleon. It's been known since Eratosthenes. Good grief, your ignorance of history is staggering.
