Sydney, Bondi Beach???
Always wanted to go to Australia.

My 20th wedding anniversary is coming up and I am thinking of spending the big bucks to head down under.

So..........Anyone been to Sydney? would Bondi beach be a good place to stay??

I know it is early on that side of the world so I would probably have to wait a bit for some Aussies to pitch in but meanwhile, has anyone on board today been??

What do you think?

Bondi is a busy busy place, it is very multicultural with many overseas visitors.

I lived there for 9 months in the eighties.

The shops of the entire district are amazing...I am speaking from a ladies point of view here.

Dont forget places like "The Blue Mountains"

It was way to busy for me, I prefer quiet country places.

Thanks so much!

Shops are fine, my wife would enjoy that. Is Bondi expensive?

How are the restaurants?

Would October be good beach weather?

I have about a week to spend there. How far would the "Blue Mountains" be from Sydney?

There is so many more beautiful places you can go toin Oz to spend your anniversary. For example do some research on the "gold coast", personally I really liked it in Noosa.

Bondi is a bit of a 'see and be seen' yuppie arena these days. It'd be ok for a visit I spose, not my thing, hate Sydney now, it got too big too fast, so I got out.

I went to Nimbin two years ago...I dont know what is was like before but I found it to be the dirtiest seediest little hole ever...way too many of the "white shirts" entrepreneurs . Filthy streets, a real embarrassment. beautiful area though.

Agree with you there AC.

OP it depends on what kind of holiday you're looking for really. Anniversary suggests something a little romantic? If that's the case try looking more into Queensland, and yeah Noosa is BEAUTIFUL. Lots of romantic getaways and islands up QLD way, plus the Great Barrier Reef. October should be perfect weather then too.

Every city has a different feel if you know what I mean? Personally I thought Sydney was a hole but that's just my opinion. Other's love it. It is very busy and if you're driving in the city, make sure you hire a small zippy car and drive aggressively!

Re: Sydney, Bondi Beach???
Despite all this negativity (why???), Bondi Beach is the perfect place to spend your anniversary. Although I've travelled the world, Bondi is my permanent home for a reason.

It's a vibrant, eclectic, wonderful seaside suburb that welcomes everybody warmly.

I suggest you book a beautiful boutique room at Ravesi's, opposite the beach then enjoy sunset strolls along the promenade, hundreds of gorgeous shops, boutique fashion stores, cafes and restaurants.

Visit the Icebergs Bar for cocktails overlooking the entire beach, enjoy some fun and food down at The Bucket List at the beach, some fine dining down the other end at North Bondi Italian.

We have a gorgeous free gallery, theatre and lots of other events going on.

The Sydney food festival, Crave, is on with an amazing Breakfast at Bondi on the sands on Sun 14 Oct. Then from 18th October is one of the best arts events in Australia - Sculpture by the Sea - all along the stunning Bondi Coastal Cliff Walk.

October is one of the best months to visit. It's mid-Spring so the weather is generally sunny blue skies, not too hot with a great vibe heading into Summer.

You guys all need to head to Bondi Beach again I think!!

If you need any further info, head to www.atbondi.com - it has heaps of visitor info, a full Directory of businesses, lots of photos in the gallery, etc.

Wherever you head, I hope you enjoy your anniversary - congrats on such an amazing milestone!

Re: Sydney, Bondi Beach???
I have lived in Sydney and in Southern California. I´d recommend SoCal and Hawaii over Oz, without a doubt. Especially if you´re going on honeymoon.

If you´re planning on going to Oz anyway, I´d say don´t stay in Bondi. I´d rather stay in downtown, in the Central Business District and then go to different beaches from there... Good luck!

Re: Sydney, Bondi Beach???
Go to Queensland instead... Look at areas Brisbane to Cairns... Whitesundays is best as its right in the middle and has the best beaches... If your inclined to exp the city then Sydney is best for that but wouldnt you want to be away from that all?
