if I had a black box or any other kind of box installed in my car

someone would steal it within a fortnight

and/or empty it out and fill it with sand... yawn

and if they expect me to be able to continually have it replaced, or somehow maintain it's integrity as such

lots of modern vehicles have these "Black Boxes" the good news is, they can be taken out or disabled. Just like any car alarm.

I wouldn't worry about it. The US will not exist by 2015.

If people want to know why American cars are shit and still cost a ton...it's because of government meddling. They keep adding shit that doesn't need to be added and bumping the price up. In the early 70s and late 60s, cars were simple. $2,000 was enough to get you a 350 horsepower monster.

Its not "who" is doing the surveillance and monitoring, but "what". Artificial intelligence and "its" systems are vastly superior to humans when it comes to this. Millions of faces can be scanned in just seconds! Like I've said, IT knows who you are in great detail and stores that information in your PROFILE, which it can link to your face in mere seconds. When you pull up to an intersection you think the cameras are just watching the vehicles to see if they run red lights? Come on man!

and you will pay for it too.

Your airbags won't function without this box. The box gathers information during a crash to determine which airbags will fire. I work with these units and to call them black boxes is completely misleading.

I, for one, would never purchase a new car if they have to be equipped with this box. Automakers will suffer.

There already in your car. Its called a ECU...engine control unit. The computer that controls your eninge.
