Conservative ministers have held meetings with executives from Google once a month on average since the General Election, it has been disclosed.

Official records show that since June 2010 there have been at least 23 meetings between Tory ministers and bosses from the search engine.

David Cameron, the Prime Minister, met Google representatives three times during that period, while George Osborne, the Chancellor, held four meetings.

Ed Vaizey, the Culture Minister, has met the firm seven times and Jeremy Hunt, the Culture Secretary – who is already under pressure over his links to News Corp – has held four meetings with the internet firm, reports suggested. ...

An elite in political and sociological theory, is a small group of people who control a disproportionate amount of wealth or political power.

Google is making a big change to how it displays results in it's dominant search engine. It is rolling out a new feature called the Knowledge Graph which breaks from the traditional practice of matching keywords with webpages.
