Re: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!
Yes, the Japan 6.0 should be in the chart.

But I don't quite get it...

1) Yes I have theory of asteroid/earthquake connection.
2) I researched the recent history of daily NEO counts
3) I added daily totals into a spreadsheet
4) I calculated moving averages up to 4 days before and after
5) I have program conditional color code to show above average days
6) I then added history of all quakes from USGS "significant" list
7) USGS dates are UTC time.
7) I proved the higher averages for a day the higher likelihood for a quake

...

UTC time or Local? Magnitude as per USGS or EMSC? Was it Significant or not?

I would not add quakes less than 6.0 unless "significant" per USGS. However I did add the Italy quake because I thought it was significant.

When blogging results for a prediction widow I sometime show the days prior and after the window, plus quakes in high mag 5's for perspective.

For my database and the charts I post I will add a few columns to cover some of the variables it would be nice to see related time, reporting feed and magnitude.
 Quoting: TheTruthWorker

First - I think your intentions are honest.
But I also think you bark up the wrong tree.

UTC time or Local?
UTC - this avoids posts like "But in the US it's still hours to go".

Magnitude as per USGS or EMSC?
Doesn' matter - but you must stay on one either USGS or EMSC.

Was it significant or not?
The significance depends on the average EQ mag for a given location. E.g. in Germany EQ up to mag 4 are rare but normal. A mag 5.1 is significant.
Perhaps you like to have a look here: [link to geofon.gfz-potsdam.de] . I think they have more information, a database I think 2 or 3 years back, significant EQ highlighted, customizable search, ...

Your table looks as if there are only EQs when there are NEOs - and that is not true.
Your table should contain every EQ that is e.g. significant and 5.5+ - even if there are no NEOs.

Another thought to consider:
NEOs within .5AU (if this is the closest approach) - thats 50% further away than Venus at its closest point to Earth.
What influence has a 20m or a 1km NEO at .5AU when Venus didn't trigger an EQ in your +/- 2 days window?

Reduce it to .1AU or .05AU - that sounds more reputable.

.
 Quoting: Hydra

Thanks for the link and feedback.

I will list magnitude per both USGS and EMSC in two columns.
I will use UTC time and date, same for both feeds.
I will list 6.0+ quakes, and smaller ones on USG Significant quake list, and smaller one making big news.

Table lists every date. Column labeled # is NEO count for each day even if 0 (like June 12).

Then columns show before and after 2, 3, 4 day averages plus 3, 5 and 8 day averages center on date. The higher the average the darker the color.

Database and stats was created based on NEOs at less than .5 AU. Since space is a vacuum and size of object is not considered, the connection may not be what you would expect, like gravitational pull. More likely "electric universe" theory which we are still trying to understand.

Past data is past data. The stats are facts. Debunk the historic data in the OP.

From May 19 to June 10 on chart below there were 24 days and 13 quakes = 54% of the time.

The highlighted areas in bright yellow have high NEO counts and daily averages which cover 13 days, with a 9 quakes on these dates = 69% of the time.

Of the 11 dates not highlighted in bright yellow as having an increased chance of a quake, there were 4 quakes = 36% of the time.

2012bs

So recently quakes occurred:

54% normally
69% with high NEO counts
36% with low NEO counts

Next high count window is June 14-15-15

Recent data support historical stats that higher NEO counts indicate the a higher likelihood of a quake on that day.

The moon would be causing a continuous earthquake.. much more gravitational influence than a tiny tiny asteroid..

Do asteroids cause tidal surges?

I think not...

Re: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!
The primary distinction between comet and asteroid surfaces is that electrical arcing and “electrostatic cleaning” of the comet nucleus will leave little or no dust or debris on the surface during the active phase, even if a shallow layer of dust may be attracted back to the nucleus electrostatically as the comet becomes dormant in its retreat to more remote regions.

The comet spends most of its time far from the Sun, where the plasma voltage is low relative to the Sun.

In remote regions, the comet moves slowly and its charge easily comes into balance with its surroundings. But as the comet falls toward the Sun, it begins to move at a furious speed through regions of increasing voltage. The comet’s charge, developed in deep space, responds to the new environment by increasing internal electric polarization and by forming cathode jets and a visible plasma sheath, or coma.

comets and asteroids often spend a long time in deep space outside of our suns heliosphere before they make near passes of earth , hence their electrical interaction (discharge) to earth

I appreciate the research and clean representation. Good work!

However, this is sort of old news. The fact that asteroid affect earthquakes, volcanoes and weather has been self-evident to me for quite some time.

All one needs to do is to pay attention to all phenomena at the same time to put the bigger picture together.

Re: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!
Average 6-6.9 eq's happen a year = 134

Gives you on average an eq of that size approx every 2.75 days.

Giving a prediction on a 6.3 with a three day window will give you a great chance of being right, but it is no prediction and not down to NEO's.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18836070

I have discussed these issues here:

Thread: Big EARTHQUAKE to hit today? What are the odds?

Thread: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!

I would not normally forecast a quake less than 6.5 but that is all that July 5th window is pointing to.

Recently NEO counts are way down. And so are quake magnitudes. May be no connection.

 Quoting: TheTruthWorker

This chart shows the magnitude above 6.0 for all 6.1+ quakes,
averaged over 5 consecutive quakes above 6.
You can see the drop off in quake magnitude
recently and we are at a low area.

This chart shows the falling daily NEO count
averaged over 3 days, and we are a very low level...
then goes out to Oct 2012.

September 14th is an earthquake target date due to a combo of...

quake history for some of those NEOs and this...

NEO's closer than .0185 AU tend to have related quakes,
