"Oh, and by the way, you really don't want to get me started on the real origins of English. Its basis IS latin, and it's bastardized latin FOR A REASON. A reason bred in perfidy and sowed in iniquity."

Wow! I am interested in this REASON. . . .please explain . . . if you will . . .I would love to hear your theories. . . .hf
 Quoting: George B

It's not a theory, it's documented. I don't know if it's documented online, because I researched these things well prior to the internet, but the reason is actually very simple.

Priests spoke Latin, and Priests created the English language. It's a 'common tongue' so that the average person could not learn the scriptures.

They needed a language that they could understand, but so that the understanding was unilateral (in other words, so that the common man could not use it to reverse and decypher Latin).

Ask yourself who keeps Latin alive, and why?

Medical field and priests... why? What is their intent behind keeping this language alive? Why is it only ever taught in universities?

It is a language for the so-called 'elite'. It's still kept alive, used for mystical words for plants, animals, and pharmaceutical inventions. It's also used for mystical rituals in churches.
What is the tie between the medical and the established religions?

Who slaughtered herbalists by the hundreds? Who killed the sacred knowledge of plant lore and healing? It wasn't the medical field, and yet, who did most people go to for 'healing' when their home remedies failed? Priests.

The medical field is strongly entwined with priesthood. Why the white ritual gowns?

Did you know that white was considered to be the color you draped the dead and dying in?

English was created by priests. People were literally beaten and then killed if they did not conform to the new language. Ostensibly, this was for unity. So that all people understood each other and especially the priests.

But... people didn't really understand the priests, because english was not THEIR language.

Consider why it is that the 'scriptures' were kept secret for so long. What could the purpose have been for that? Why was it written in a language the common man didn't speak, and why was it kept away from them?

Of course, we know why. Because it is contradictory and the teachings could more easily be shifted according to their political needs.

English is a political language. So, in its own way, is Latin.
 Quoting: Sandi_T

Sandi,

Got to thinking about your concept of the use of language to control humanity. . . and empower the elite. . . seems not out of the realm of reason. . . .

If finance, government (including war) religion, education and now entertainment (TV, Movies, Internet, advertisement,
sports) are components of control . . . why not language?

To be effective over the centuries one needs to have a well structured Central Corp of puppeteers to manage the charade. . . or I think an oversight group which lives a very long lifespan . . . possibly even artificial intelligence. . . have you seen the movie The Truman Show. . . a very good analogy. . . .coffee4

 Quoting: George B

French and Spanish, as far as I can tell, are somewhat so. However, they were bastardized from Latin sooner, and by more directly 'governmental' forces.

English was more strongly and directly influenced by the priesthood, while Spanish and French were influenced more by 'priestly governors' if that makes sense. The Roman Empire brought in the French/Spanish languages, not so much the priesthood. These languages predate English.

Gaelic was what was replaced by English, though this is why English bears much more of other Euro languages. Because much of Continental Europe already had a good deal of Greek, which was the 'universal' language of the Roman Empire. The language of commerce, etc.

So the antecedent of these languages is Greek based with bastardized Latin to keep them within the realm of the priests and governors' understandings.

Because it was one of the earliest bastardized languages, French was for a time the dominant language, the universal language (much the way English is now, and Mandarin likely will be in the near future).

It was spread by indirect remaining Roman influence, unlike English which was spread almost exclusively by priests. However, by that time, Catholicism had such a strong hold that 'governor' and 'priest' was nearly inseparable.

They forced their language and their calendar onto the world with powerful economic sanctions (and murder). English did not supplant French and Spanish entirely because they share the latin ancestry, which means none of them are close enough to latin to make latin understandable to the common person... yet close enough that there is little learning required for the 'elite' usurpers to learn it fluently.

"Scrying (also called seeing or peeping) is a magic practice that involves seeing things psychically in a medium, usually for purposes of obtaining spiritual visions and less often for purposes of divination or fortune-telling. The most common media used are reflective, translucent, or luminescent substances such as crystals, stones, glass, mirrors, water, fire, or smoke. Scrying has been used in many cultures as a means of divining the past, present, or future. Depending on the culture and practice, the visions that come when one stares into the media are thought to come from God, spirits, the psychic mind, the devil, or the subconscious.

Although scrying is most commonly done with a crystal ball, it may also be performed using any smooth surface, such as a bowl of liquid, a pond, or a crystal."

[link to www.unrv.com]

"Latin also survived the fall of the Roman Empire. As the centuries passed it continued to be an international language of the educated and social elite, accompanying the modified tongues of the common people. The sole language of the Catholic Church was Latin, and all scholarly, historical, or scientific work was written in it. The replacement of the Romans itself as an international authority, with that of the church, was a key factor in keeping the language alive and in practice. When the Middle Ages ended, end the west experienced a cultural Renaissance, interest in classical Latin as a means of artistic and literary expression grew. During and after this period of re-birth, forms of Latin were even transplanted to the Western Hemisphere. Today, the people of Mexico, Central America, and South America are called Latins or latinos . . .

Latin today may be a dormant language but it remains an important piece of our linguistic puzzle. The use of Latin for names of places, anatomy, biology and others still dominates several scientific and medical fields. People all over the world are studying Latin with enthusiasm and energy. It, of course, is still alive and well within the Vatican and the Roman Catholic Church. It is gaining new popularity among modern Italians and Romans; and conventions of Latin speaking people are becoming a regular occurrence in Europe. Latin is anything but a dead language."
