The only thing was the usual SUN WORSHIP.

Of course they took advantage of the upcoming summer season. There's summer themed-commercials and then there's SUN(mer) symbolism in those commercials:

Sun Drop energy drink & Sunkist
LOTS of orange and green
Self-tanning lotions and Sun-In hairspray

Three female singers just happen to wear the EXACT deep orange/red color:

Taylor Swift
Kelly Clarkson
Carrie Underwood

Also, black and white were shown as secondary to orange.

Katy Perry came out to perform her new song Wide Awake. She was portrayed as an angel coming down from heaven with flying suns with faces, cherubims, even rockets or vintage-looking blimps flying around. Strangest thing was huge bullets too! One appeared in the eye of a sun! The song ended when she disappeared into the ground, much like what Madonna did

There was a Chevy-sponsored contest (Chevy hinted at the Eye of Horus worship here: Thread: Chevy's new campaign: Under The Blue Arch logo & the Eye of Horus?
called the Battle of The Bands. A band from Long Island, NY called Patent Pending (?) won and they got to perform their song Nobody Comes Out of Here Alive...

All of the music tributes seemed like they were rushed and there was NO tribute to Robin Gibb...that's all.

It looks like Nelly Furtado's latest video is telling of TALL beings that will be coming back this year

She's trying so hard to push the all-seeing eye here. It's probably the only reason why she was able to perform at the Billboard awards.
