You are not looking at the spiritual aspect. IMO, you will never understand it correctly until you put the spiritual equation into it.
Our souls, our spirits are real...so are theirs. There is a much, much bigger picture to this.

Well, the way you worded the OP, it left that out completely. Also, there is a huge difference between a sentient creature, and non-sentient creature. The analogy of us being ants does not make sense, as we are sentient beings. A better analogy would be, most people would think twice about killing another human being. As someone else said above me, Even as the same species on a global scale we do not help each other.. Most people corrupted by power and money wont even help their distant relatives let alone someone from another chunck of land mass we call a country. Again these are generalisations but all in all i think most would agree.  My thoughts are that the majority of people are not corrupt, and if they had the chance or opportunity, they would help someone in need. I think it is a minority of people that are corrupt or 'bad'. Otherwise, every community in the world would be chaos. People would be killing for the fuck of it, raping, stealing from each other non-stop, etc. I guess I look at it differently.
