billybob660 User ID: 9706738 Canada 05/22/2012 12:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From what I can remember, Yes ! There was at least one 7+ a few days before the big one ! But in or near Japan a lot of tectonic plates meet up, this is not the case in Italy ! Let's hope they don't get a 7 or an 8... Well I've heard on the news something like this magnitude is very rare, the last time was about 700 years ago. More than likely, Italy is not the location of where something even larger may occur! (which was the case with Japan) In the location that happened yesterday or in Italy in general? Coz they had a 7.9 in 1905 and a 6.9 in 1980. The thing with Italy is that although the earthquakes are not that big in the Richter scale, always leave victims and severe damages behind. I believe in that location, or just near Bologna And of course, a lot of damage because those buildings are so old, and are deteriorating... They're very fragile! Because the data selection from EMSC is rectangular, it also picks up EQs in neighbouring areas. But note that it shows the Adriatic Microplate fairly well. The average lifecycle cost of a kilo of Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano for earthquakes (averaged over all ages) is about 1.30 euros per 100g or 13 euros per kilo – i.e. for the producers. - Thus the maximum loss expected for the cheeses is around 150 million Euros if the 300000 wheels estimation is correct. - Additional damage to structures and other industry could total 250-350 million Euros. BRIEF User ID: 381742 United States 05/22/2012 08:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I heard brief talking on TV about some potential bigger volcano showing unrest in Italy? Not Etna but some volcano under water or something. Might've been that they didn't know shit about what they were talking about but I thought I could ask here if anyone heard anything about this stuff? After all there are lots of people who are into this stuff here so... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12744807 I haven't been on TV for years... I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |
