Help! Birds Chirping in My Computer
I had no programs open. There doesn't seem to be any unusual processes running. There are sounds of birds and wind echoing through my computer, as if something is recording somewhere outside.

What the hell is going on? Please help.

Yea the fans, or anything with a fan (power supply) is generally what breaks on a computer.

Yes, it is a fan going bad. The chirping you hear is the fan bearings squeaking because they are dry or worn. You hear "wind" because now the fan is rotating at a different speed than normal and also probably causing some vibration in the case.

But its coming from the speakers. And its distictly birds. Several distict different types of chirps. And I think a dog was yipping. When I turn off the volume I can't hear them.

Maybe I do have some weird program running? I really don't think I have a problem with the fan.

Do you have more than one user account on your computer? I have one for the kids and one for myself. If I am on my screen but they have left something playing, I hear it, even though I am on my account screen. Restarting will end their program and the noise.

Re: Help! Birds Chirping in My Computer
I compared it to this vid I found of fan "wind" sounds and chirps [link to www.youtube.com] but it wasn't that at all.

I probably just had a weird file or something stupid running.

It's done now. But with the volume controls theres an icon of a computer with wings on it.

meh. Sometimes my speakers pick up CB and radio signals. You should consider buying a power conditioner to filter out the unwanted signals.

Its not the speakers its the hard drive, you don't need a power conditioner to filter out unwanted signals. Later on you will see they do it to other appliances too so you would just be wasting your money

Re: Help! Birds Chirping in My Computer
OK So on the news apparently they were showing some Ustream of NATO protestors that had birds chirping over the audio feed. I think thats what it was, since I've been all over Ustream and Live feed this weekend. Didn't think I had any tabs open but maybe it was hidden but open somewhere and I didn't realize. Mystery solved.

I figured it would end up being something dumb and it indeed was. Thanks for your help anyway.

My computer also chirps a bird sound. It lasts about 2 seconds and is always the same. It sounds like a goldfinch. I have no idea why the computer does this at odd times.
