While every other country has national pride and protects their space program like they protect their national sovereignty, asshole American dupes have sold gutted the American Space program and sold it off to Americas oligarchs. Get ready for profit driven bottom line launches which will result in space junk landing on and killing innocent people all over the world because the corporations will of course cut corners on safety controls to maximize profits and meet deadlines.

Americans are the stupidest people in the fucking world.

It's the only way to move forward.

National space programs depend to much on the whims of the government and budgets etc.

NASA has been stagnating badly over the last few years.

Besides, no one nation has what it takes to really make the breakthroughs we want to see in space exploration.

So either we form an international space agency with every country contributing it's space budget to a single kitty.

Or we let private companies have a stab, they certainly can't do any worse.

Your criticism about space junk falling on people is funny.
When a private company fucks up as bad as NASA did with Challenger... then you may have a point.

Your bwaaing about national space agencies as some kind of nationalist symbol is bizarre to me.

The goal here is to advance space exploration for all humanity's benefit, not stroke your national ego in some fucked up patriotic penis measuring contest.

Americans are the blindest sheep in the world -- that much is true.

We have allowed TPTB (and we don't really know who is pulling the strings for certain) to rape and pillage much of the world. All the while we have waved the flag on command and listened intently to the government telling us who is the newest enemy-of-the-month. The payback for such foolish behavior is now upon us. TPTB have now declared *Americans* to be the enemy.

Had enough yet?

In reality, no American citizen was ASKED "Hey, is it okay with you that NASA become privatized?" Like any other government agency, it morphed into privatization by way of business Darwinism. (I fully expect the USPS to be next.)

In NASA's case, over bloated with outdated technology, private aerospace companies taking over is a good thing. These brave entrepreneurs will cut wasted millions from NASA's wasteful budget and get a lot more accomplished, even if it means hitching a ride from the Russians to the ISS now and then.

Its the best thing we could have done. Competition should drive down costs and improve the quality of the end product, provided that the government doesn't get in the way. Speaking of government, lets not forget that Nasa has basically become a stagnant, horridly inefficient money pit in the last 30 years and far too reliant on the fickle whims of Congress and the presidency to have any long-term vision or plan for the future.

It may take a while, but in a few decades, the US space program will be much stronger as a result of this.

If there is profit to be made from these ventures (and there is, oh yes indeedy... google Planetary Resources), you'll see space exploration progress forward in leaps and bounds at a speed NASA couldn't dream of.

Give it to the free market, government only regulate safety based on NASA consultation, stay the fuck out of the way for everything else and let's see what happens.

If it doesn't work and the new age of private space travel flops, it can't be any worse off than where things are now (maybe even better if a few advances were made during private space explorations brief run).

If it does work...

You'll be spending your vacation in a Bigelow orbital hotel before the end of the decade, no shit. (did you know Bigelow already has a test habitat in orbit? Betcha didn't.)

The bottom line is, the nuts and bolts of what NASA was doing was pretty much always outsourced to private companies anyway, who do you think built all their shit for them?

Re: Americans Successfully Allow Nasa To Be Privatized. Idiots.
Heres what i believe happened.

Nasa always had two programs, one public for the "good" of humanity and one secret run by the airforce to advance the USA military position.

Everything was fine for years, the two running side by side, but then advancement in technology exploded. The military program decided to keep this tech for themselves, for the good of the country (you need to factor the coldwar in this), the public wouldnt even understand this stuff anyway. The gap grew bigger over the decades.

We got to peek behind the curtain and witness the level of technology the airforce has been playing with when they showed us the SR71, B2 and F117. Do you realize the Blackbird is a product of the early 60s? That they began working on the B2 in the mid 70s! The first F117 became operational in 1981, thats 31 years ago!!! Imagine what a secret space program would do with stealth technology...

Fast forward to today. Its safe to assume what the airforce is playing with these days is decades more advanced than what they are telling us and what is available to us. So let me ask you a question.

Why would the government continue wasting billions on a spectacle which only purpose is to fool everyone into thinking that half a century later, we still need to strap a bomb on our asses to get to space, when you can let the private sector waste its own money doing the same thing?

Im sure each guy in the white house thought about making it public but theyve been telling the lie for so long, the truth would destroy the little faith left in government, so the coverup continues.

Most UFOs are most probably USAF. They probably have briefly visited each planet in our solar system. They probably are building their own space stations, far enough from earth, i would go for the asteroid belt (stealth remember). Probably have an outpost on Mars too. Nothing big, just enough for mandatory research for the good of humanity. Future generations that is. If youre gonna be out there, might as well.

Instead of assuming and be proud of their advancements. They hide, they lie so they wont have to share with the rest of us.

This is depressing...

NASA has classified too many power generation systems.

Just look at the Tether Experiment.

It was a electrical dynamo using earths magnetic field and a conductive wire.

But they wont allow us to use these homopolar designs because they are classified in the name of national security under the Invention Secrecy Act.

I say we need to utilize these invention and technologies in the name of national security !
